Wormtown Yard Party Summer Wheat

 

Okay - I halfway lied, as I had a half pour of a “Czech-style Half Dark Lager” in between my Pilsner and the Ten Years Gone #6 wheat wine aged in Willett bourbon barrels for 17 months after using Virginia-grown wheat in a beer made back in 2023.


First off, the Czech dark lager hit me right - along the lines of an English dark mild where the malts led the way.

Then, the wheat wine…
Sweet, for sure. Coconut and vanilla from the barrels with a red ale vibe underneath. Barrel-specific tannin and spice, with a bitterness that tries, it really does. The beer with almost 1/4th the ABV is the winner for me, though it does thin out sitting alongside the more full beer.

 

Sticking with Ohio beers while prepping some pico. Mexican Lager with Lime from Great Lakes. Cheers, all!

 

Left the Bock fest due to hunger issues.
Found a local place J.J.Ratigans that is a small brewery/restaurant nearby.
Paw Pound Pale Ale .
Pretty good.

Sux going from bocks to Pale Ale.
At least in my taste flavor profile.
Oh well I need fed better than the shitty tents available at the festival.
Real food is required.

Out in the courtyard again...with pupper, book and beer...maybe I should write a song about that ha...no that would be bad. But a nice recurring pleasure, and taking advantage of a beautiful weekend. Its not going to be too long, before it is impossibly hot out ha.

A couple of Hofbrau Maibock's and these are fantastic. Reading the last of Karl Ove Knausgaard's "seasonal quartet" Summer. These are thoughts to his infant daughter that he hopes she will read when she gets older.



And of course...Moe.

Along again ba. 120 minute ipa, iipa, dogfish head. Been a while for me on this beer.
Hop forward but rather sweet with notes of molasses, honey, and wheat. Has a really slick but heavy oily feel. This should really be a strong ale / barley wine. I guess marketing sales numbers prohibits that class?

I get giving up on bottle dates. Can you at least, take a lesson from wine, and vintage the year on the label? Figure that shit out,

Keith Jarrett's 80th birthday is this week. I post a lot of his music here, so yeah, I'm a huge fan. I will definitely be posting his catalog over the next week...be prepared

Starting with Belonging. I think this was the first of his so called "European Quartet" with Jan Garbarek, Palle Danielsson and Jon Christensen.

 

Chores done, time for some liquid nutrition. Closing in on the end of the women's road race world champs. Not sure there will be anyone left to complete the last lap.

 

Cycle Brewing announced yesterday that it is closing its taproom…there now drinking with 7 of my drinking buddies…a Monday (2025) BA imperial stout with toasted coconut and coffee:



Coffee, yes. Coconut, not so much. Still boozy good. A hot day here in the ‘burg…Cheers y’all!

 

Definitely a dreary day in the valley today, so stouts are sounding extra good. Kicking things off with this one from Bias Brewing..
