Lakefront Brewery Maibock. At the source. It is a beautiful pre-spring summer day in Wisconsin.

I want so much to get down to that brewery and drink that beer. Maybe in a month or so. Question is whether it will still be available. (Nice glass!)

Another RT Maibock for me this evening -- such a nice take on the style for a small American brewery. Great bready malts with perfect balance of herbal hops. One can left... need to do something about that soon.

I went out today looking for my favorite local heller bock: Heater Allen Lenzbock, which wasn't brewed last year.

No luck, but I did nab some Ayinger Maibock, so it's not like the day was a loss. And I still like my chances of finding Heater Allen's new Lenzbock before Memorial Day.

Graceful, bready, malty, gently spicy, delightful.

I had to "old man sit" the lovely brides uncle recently, "get him out of the house for a couple of hours", I was told. Took him to Pollyanna/Lemont, had a beer (not this) and bought a 2pack of Jotunheimr, should've bought a case, it's terrific.

How's it tasting after 3 months in the can? Smoothing out a little?

This is probably the smokiest Rauch I've had from RT, but I hear CCK smoked the malt for them, so they probably amped it a little more.

FWIW -- I had an RT Festbier last week -- canned in August -- still tasting terrific.

(BTW -- Hainesville? They moved out of that spot a couple years ago. https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/34716/ )

I keep saying Hainesville 'cuz I've been going there for years, they moved to Grayslake some time ago, old habits die hard. I didn't think it was "smoky" at all.

This is a very good and approachable Doppelbock. Traditionally I have not been a huge fan of Dopplebock, but I am starting to warm to the style.
