Memorial Day never passes unnoticed here in this small country. Photo is from the frontpage of the largest national newspaper. King of the Netherlands greeting US veterans.
A great uncle of mine, WW2 veteran too, died recenetly at the age of 102. Rather unimaginable to us now what these people have witnessed during their lives.

My sweet girlfriend just left - our first real weekend together....very awesome - lots of hiking and biking and enjoying some great food etc....the Boathouse feels a bit empty now without her!

Husking some corn and drinking a Torpedo. This mix pack said " Assorted on 5/2/25" and all beers were canned within 10 days of that. Score! If I could get it this fresh, I'd probably drink regular Torpedo a lot more. Cheers!

 

3 inches of rain last night, and more expected on/off throughout the day. Kind of puts a damper on the pool and bbq fun.

Reached my final destination of Budapest and I’m firmly established in my apartment. I’ve been to the SPAR and picked up a couple beers to tide me over until the big Budapest Beer Week tasting events on Friday/Saturday. This is Dreher Gold, a local macro lager that’s pretty decent. One-dollar-a-can macro lagers are simply better in Europe than in America

Coconut medianoche yesterday. One of the thicker beers I have had in recent memory. Chocolate and coconut, sweet, viscous, light booze and barrel. Really good offering. On Memorial Day, likely an IPA with. Dosing of some Euro lagers for good measure. In AZ, it will be a pool day with the family.

It’s “airside”, so within security, on the Schengen side of passport control. I think I read somewhere that it’s the best beer bar in any airport in the world. I mean — I’ve been to branded beer bars in airports (Jolly Pumpkin in Detroit, Alaskan and Mac & Jack’s in Seattle, Ellis Island in Vegas), and none of them even remotely hold a candle to the selection and quality on offer here. And compared to regular airport bars? 100% the best I’ve ever been to (although Seattle has a pretty good new beer bar too).

 

How has Sculpin held up, through all of Ballast Point’s trials and tribulations? I remember it being absolutely top-tier many years ago before the Constellation acquisition.

Probably one of the better coffee porters that I have had. Nice coffee/vanilla/chocolate flavors.

Had the parade w/ the kids today so didn't feel like driving to grab cans, but picked up some Urquell. Cans would have been better, but this will go down like water today...definitely Urquell weather

I wish I could be out in my courtyard right now, but its entirely to hot (at least for this guy originally from Illinois ha)...I wish we could get some of the rain from up north ugh.

Anyway...an assortment of meats and cheeses to snack on this afternoon with a La Chouffe in the glass.
