I have been using the Imgur app with no problems for a couple of years now, I had all my photos on tiny pic back in the peak VT/NEIPA fervor days - 2012 -2018 -- all gone. It will happen to every photo on BA -- even the image hosting businesses require revenue/profit to survive.
Is anyone else having trouble posting pics from Imgur the last few days here? I have used Imgur here for a OONG time with no issues, but the last three days, when I load a pic on Imgur and choose, “Copy Post Link” on the app as I’ve done for literally a decade, I get this: That’s never happened to me. Fortunately, I am an adaptable Baby Boomer, and have used Postimage to post pics the past few days, but Imgur is a lot more user friendly, IMHO. Anyone know if there’s an issue, or am I just a moron? The latter is entirely possible.
Having no issues this week but last week Imgur wasn’t letting me upload a pic w/out attaching a meme - could have just been the sequence I was using to upload as I never really know what button to push on the app (not so adaptable baby boomer) - not sure - but it’s working now.i always love seeing this topic at the top of the threads list - so many hours wasted w/advocates struggling to manage the pic upload/host odyssey
I use the Imgur app. When the picture is uploaded, it automatically goes to the Imgur post page, if I copy that link it never wo. I have to click on the picture and then select the arrow to get the option to copy the link. Quick check when I post, I look for the .jpg extension- the post doesn’t have it. Hopefully your issue is similar…
It is still no bueno for me - can’t get the .jpg extension. I’ll fiddle with it tomorrow. Thanks to you and @chipawayboy for the assistance.
I always use the "Direct Link" button to copy the jpg into the icon here. I noticed the layout of imgur has changed, and I couldn't find the direct link button. When I looked at my profile, I noticed another button to click, its was "use the old layout" or something along those lines. I'm able to get back to the direct link button with that. I don't know if that helps, or if I just went a really long away about it, but it works for me now.
I thought i'd stepped off the short bus after Imgur changed things up a few weeks ago unannounced. I was able to find the back door to all my photos and i have been successfully posting pics the last few weeks. The steps i took to do this were: 1. Dragged my photo from my email onto the Picture Post page 2. Went to the upper right corner of the Pic Post page and clicked on my username in the upper right corner or the big green "T" as my name is Tom. From there i clicked on "Settings" 3. From the Settings page i went to the upper right corner and clicked on my Imgur Username drop down menu and selected Images which takes you to all your photos 4. This is the old view pre-change where from here you click on the desired photo and select the Direct Link to post on the BA Forum page. Today i tried something different on my desktop (as i don't typically post from my phone which is painful): 1. Dragged my photo from my email 2. Hovered my mouse on the picture and clicked on the "3 dots menu ..." that popped up and clicked on "Copy Link" on BBCode (Forums) 3. Pasted the link on the BA forum page e.g. 4. Removed the prefix and suffix img letters 5. Successfully posted. I have not played on my phone but maybe will give it a go tomorrow. Cheers! Tom
Desktop is working fine today but the phone is not working even after following @Jaycase notes.Regulars on WBAYDN are having probs too. Imgur has an Emerald version that allows one to pay to not see ads. Would not surprise me if the folks from Imgur are trying to get users to go that way.
New internet provider hooked up today -- thought I'd try out the Imgur. Been using it for a long time now with no real trouble (knock wood). BBCode copy and paste. Mac desktop. I'll have to see if I can add the APP to my phone for comparison, but since I work in Photoshop on the Mac, it's my usual go-to.
Interesting- I only use the Imgur app on my phone. When I upload a picture, it goes to the Imgur post page automatically (and gives you an option to select that link also if you select the arrow at the bottom) To get the picture link, you need to select the photo and then use the arrow at the bottom to get to the copy link option- you’ll know you’re in the image if the ‘x’ to close is in the top left corner: I won’t say how long it took me to figure why I didn’t always get the correct link to the image
This same problem just started happening to me a few days ago. I haven't managed to figure it out yet, even after reading through this thread. When/if I do...I'll let you know how I sorted it out.
My app didn't work for about 3 days then outa nowhere started working again. Servers go down and get rebooted. It's on their end. Betcha it'll come back soon.
Interesting, and thanks, that was helpful. I had until recently been able to hold on a gallery photo to get a menu from which I could choose “Copy link” but that has turned into a gallery (group of photos) link to the site that I assume by the use of a hash scrolls to the specific photo within the page of multiple photos. I found that removing the “gallery/xxxxxxx#” and appending the photo extension (.png or .jog) worked, as well, for what it is worth. That said, I will be updating my technique after reading your post
