Cross posted in the NBW thread. Cant let @DIM and @Beersnake have all the fun in this thread!
this one courtesy of @muchloveforhops3 THANK YOU! the beer is Maple Barrel aged Coronet, a barleywine that registers 11% and is brewed by Migration Brewing in Portland, Oregon. Bottle is part of the never ending Big Stout and Barleywine BIF#2.

    onto my review:

Sampling a cellar temp 500 ml bottle poured into my snifter. Loving the Pileated Woodpecker on the label! No date stamp on label though.
Beer pours a deep ruby to richer garnet color with very little light passing through my glass.
A creamy khaki colored head foams up on the pour about 1 cm and fades slowly to a sturdy surface covering. very dense lattice on swirls in my glass. Beer looks very nice and head retention is great for a higher ABV brew.
Aroma on this beer is surprisingly mild, I do get some toffee and a little bourbon and charred wood, but not a robust nose. No fusol notes and no hop character to speak of at this point.
First sip reveals a medium body with relatively smooth texture and very fine, gentle carbonation. Not much coating or sticky feel on each swallow.
Flavor is on the sweeter side but also slightly muted, in similar fashion to the nose. I do get some toffee and hints of maple. Finish has some bourbon and charred wood with a bit of black peppery booze too. No accompanying warming, so decently hidden ABV. I love the label but had higher hopes for the beer. It isnt bad at all, just seems to not be as bold as I had hoped from description. Still glad to have tried it and would gladly drink another one!
    4.0 in the BA DB

Red wine finished Bardston BBA Wisdom from Barreled Souls. Sweet/jammy. Wisdom is a ~75 yo Albatross living in the South Pacific - true and fascinating story. I sip this beer in her honor.

I swear i did not look at your post Tim before popping this one open, courtesy of a @DIM counterstrike at the end of 2023. Guess there are some Kuhnhenn vibes going around the beer universe!
I have been way overdue for a high gravity brew. This is a nice one, getting lots of toffee and cherries and despite the light hopping and barrel, leaving a style appropriate sweetness on the back end. Thanks for the opportunity to try this Dan! Rated 4.24.
    Cheers!

2023 Bigfoot. As I stated in the WBAYDN thread, this is THE beer. Consistent, fantastic fresh, fantastic aged. I hope this is brewed for all time.

Tree of Fortitude from Tree House. This is a barleywine aged in a variety of rum barrels between 24-30 months. Also included are vanilla, coconut, and lime. I don't see an ABV on the bottle, but it's listed as 11% ABV on BA.

Poured at fridge temp, but it warmed in the glass for 10 minutes before I tried it. It pours a very dark brown with minimal head. The nose is amazing. Caramel is dominant. Coconut, vanilla, rum, chocolate, marshmallow, honey, and brown sugar.

The taste largely follows the nose. Tropical vibe to it. Coconut, rum, caramel candy, vanilla, molasses, and some dark malts. The citrus is there, but very subtle.

Suc(aba) it! English style? The first one I ever had (can’t recall year) was a sweet caramel English style. Everything since has been American hop aggressive to my palate. I’ll still drink it!

Note: The 13.4% ABV is punching much higher IMO. After one Glencairn, I’m feeling like it’s hitting at 18 or 20…I’m sure it can’t, but I know the Whuh Pow when I feel it.

Heavy Things from Firestone and The Bruery. A barleywine aged in brandy barrels. 16.5% ABV. Second time trying it, and it's just as good as the first time. Caramel, raisin, brandy, and vanilla. Lovely.

2016 Thomas Hardy's Ale. Very nice after 9 years. Caramel is still dominant. Slight hops, melon, tobacco, and light maple.

Hello old friend! I managed to find two more cans a while back and since i worked my ass off in the yard over the last week i felt this would be a tasty treat to celebrate with.
This is so creamy smooth to go with the dark fruit and piney bite flavor profile. I'm so tempted to crack the last one!
    Cheers!
