DANG, a whale for sure. Glad it held up. I would truly jump at the chance if given one. Great write up!

    Greetings, fellow NBWers,
It's a blustery and increasingly stormy looking dusk in the wilds of southern Spokanistan. Currently 65°, I think it got up into the mid 70s earlier.

Today, before dinner, I hit a "modern pilsner" from Whistle Punk that was brewed in collaboration with a local homebrewing club:

Nothing amazing, but a pleasant beer to drink a mug of on a warm day.

Ozark Beer - Onyx Coffee Stout

    Notes:
P deep mahogany, 1-2f khaki head, light lace toward the top
N med bold blend of heavy roast, coffee, and yeasty notes
T fairly bold, no nonsense profile; coffee forward w/ a touch of sweetness, roasty finish thats on the dry side, a bit of coffee bitterness in the aftertaste
Mf lightly to moderately creamy, smooth, light med to med bodied, soft med to med carb
O a nicely done coffee stout, drinks well; thanks again, Russ!

    Cheers :beers:

From British Columbia comes Cobra Clutch from Parallel 49 Brewing.

It's a little *unclear* what this stuff is, but it's really not bad. I wouldn't really call it a NEIPA but an American Strong Ale. However, it does have big hop flavors and a juicy character. Also not very bitter and then it's not acidic. So it's just a powerful mouthful of fruit and more fruit. The aroma is actually quite lovely, with ripe honeydew melon and something flowery. The stuff is pretty sweet but so smooth and tangy. This would be the bomb in a 19.2 oz tall can on a sunny day.

I'm enjoying the last beer of the weekend, and look at that, it's a New Beer.

    Reuben’s Citra Wit
    Canned on 04/23/25

It certainly looks the part: the cloudy body is an enticing pale peach-gold color topped with frothy white foam. The nose leads with bright orange zest followed by bold notes of clove and coriander on a bed of grainy malt. Taste-wise, it does exactly what it says on the can: Citra, then Wit. There's a rush of orange juice and orange peel. It starts off sweet but dries quickly, at which point coriander becomes prominent but thankfully not overwhelming. The finish shows off toasty grain with a lingering kiss of orange and a subtle bitterness. Reuben's Citra Wit is a tasty and satisfying version of the style.
