Hey there. Heading to Glendale / Avondale area for a work trip towards the end of this month, and it's been a couple years since I've been there. Used to hit Ground Control when I went, but looks like that closed. The company I'm meeting with wanted to stay out there due to the meetings we have. Question is anywhere decent for beer and food out there, or is it better to drive 30 min into phoenix area for AZ Wilderness / Wren House / Pedl Haus / RBTS???
Ground Control was solid . I miss it great taps /food and beer to go. Close to there ( Litchfield park) is Saddle Mountain , then more east you have 8-bit Aleworks, Peoria Artisian Brewery . Cant go wrong if you drive to Wren House. then Wandering Tortoise lots of traffic thou
I live in the area and used to frequent Ground Control. Yes it closed down a new Mediterranean restaurant took over and its much cleaner and nicer but no craft beer. Check out Tap Savvy its a tap house / bottle shop a mile away on Dysart & Indian School. There's also TCBC inside Old Litchfield Park but I don't like their beer but it's still a cool place to grab a craft beer. There is also Saddle Mountain Brewery in Goodyear a few miles away and that place has good food and good beer. I think you will like Tap Savvy & Saddle Mountain since they are close by. If you want anything better you will have to drive into Phoenix. Like others have said it's hard to beat Wandering Tortoise and Wren house.
Thanks guys for the response. Flying out tomorrow so thinking may end up at Tap Savvy for a while haha
Looks like TCBC lost its lease in Litchfield Park,AZ. . Not sure of last day or future. @erichxedge if you are going to Tap Savvy , this brewery is very close . https://mouthbysouthwest.com/2025/0...transplant-city-beer-company-loses-its-lease/
Got out just the night I was there, but made the most of it. Ate lunch at AZ Wilderness on the way from the airport to Buckeye, and then that night hit Tap Savvy for happy hour. Solid spot and good selections overall! Made a quick stop at Saddle Mountain Brewing and had a pint of Hop Snob that was solid. The team I was meeting with all went to The Stillery so met up with them, and was somewhat happy to see Tower Station on the menu there, so had a couple of those. Spent the next day golfing at Verrado with the team, and then got in a solid 2 hours at Wren House before catching the flight home. Solid suggestions guys. Thanks again! Wish I could have brought some cans home with me, but had a backpack and my golf club carrying case that I checked, and didnt want to chance the beer exploding all over the clubs haha
Yup! To be honest their beer wasn't that great. It was a cool, fun, clean place but they could have brewed better beers. I hope something good opens up because thats a popular spot.
