Well, in some circles this time of night people would still be heading for a Disco Overload. Here's an IPA from Breakside Brewery in Portland.

Aromatic with tangerine peel and a whiff of green melon and something in the herb family. Light body and plenty of carbonation. Taste is hoppy but starts out reasonably well. It's quite fruity with a touch of pineapple but the bitterness keeps growing. Overall this is more bitter than it needs to be to make its mark as a West Coaster, but drinkable. Dated 04/22/25 in large print numbers, happily enough for us geezers.

Here we are again BAs! I hope everyone is doing alright this Thursday/pre-weekend. That big lunk 'o sh*t can't get here soon enuf. A fine beer here from Barrel Theory called Very Demure HIPA. 7.2% is a nice take with this style. It has an earthy aroma, caramel malts, and genuine fruit tastes that are well blended. Keep on chooglin'!! Cheers!

Two already snuck beers while I was creating a thread. Cheers @mactrail , hope you had a good session if you drummed last night @LesDewitt4beer .

Deviating from my early intention to perform a cellar review. I already added one for this earlier in the year. As usual, no coffee and borderline barrel, whether fresh or cellared, at least for me.

To be paired with a Blueberry Muffin warming up now.

Good day BAs! Thanks @mactrail for opening the bar - do discos still exist, and if so, why?

Another day here in NW PA, as we near the apex of daytime and get ready for the short slide into winter - soon the road crews will be abandoning their road barriers in the teeth of the icy blasts of fall, one step ahead of the glaciers - giving us the two weeks a year when the roads will actually be available for travel. Ah, the glorious future!

    Today's New Breakfast Beer:

Normally I wouldn't give a full review except on NBW, but ...

Trip Thru the Woods from Sierra Nevada. Single 25.4 fl oz undated cork and cage bottle. Purchased 05/06/25 from Sierra Nevada on-line: $ 25.00/$ 0.984 per fl oz. Reviewed 19/06/25 (Review 3544). Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
Stored at 37 degrees F at home. Served at 56.4 degrees F in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. The final temperature is 61.4 degrees F.
    Appearance – 4.25
First pour – Deep Brown (SRM 30), nearly opaque.
Body – Black (SRM 40), opaque. Under direct light, same. When rear-lite, same.
Head – Average (Maximum 3.0 cm, aggressive center pour). Tan Brown, high density, average retention, dropping to a 0.5 – 0.7 cm crown and a partial cap.
    Lacing – None.
Aroma – 4 – Wood, vanilla, and tobacco(?), slightly sweet. No yeast, no alcohol, no hops.
Flavor – 4 – Begins slightly bitter and dry with cocoa and red wine predominating. No yeast, no hops. No alcohol (13.8 % ABV, according to the label). No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl. Moderate gastric warming.
Palate – 4 – Full: approaching creamy: lively carbonation.
Style: Follows the style guidelines as condensed by BA.
Final impression and summation: 4 (After deducting 0.25 point for an undated bottle) Uncredited label artist. Unfortunately, the red wine barrels have over-powered the bourbon and rum barrels. For me, this was a waste of good Narwhal – sure it’s decent but certainly not for which I’d been expecting or hoping – it’s actually a bit sour rather than bitter, the original Narwhal drowned in too much wine barrel aging.
    Rating 4, rDev -5.2%

Chimay Tripel and getting closer to summer solstice. Expected hot temps in these part high in the 80F. Pleasant to drink a classic Belgian triple in the shade while it’s near too hot for outdoor tasks:

Mornin', all! I finally gave up on trying to find a single of Guinness 0, so I picked up a four-pack yesterday for $8.99. No complaints. Outstanding beer, great flavor, only 75 calories per 14.9-ounce can. Slàinte!

I think this is a new brew from Wormtown - Rocket Pale Ale. Pretty darn tasty, especially on this hot summer day. Also took a trip to the dispensary and grabbed some edibles. I love that they give veterans a discount, it effectively wipes out the cannabis tax and state tax. Going to be making some slow roasted center cut pork chops for dinner shortly. I'll let them slow roast all afternoon. Probably do a bit of Cajun seasoning to keep things somewhat spicy.
