I have been posting with imgur for years, just started having problems, 1st with the phone, then the tablets a day or two later.
I've had issues with Imgur off and on for a while now. I do use their website and I've had to post my images, and then use the copy image option before posting them on here. I believe people are still seeing my image posts. Just posted this but I really don't know if everyone else other than me are seeing them or not.
Imgur is forcing me to update and won’t permit access to uploads. I made a new “something “ earlier and posted once, but I’m back in a loop, -logged off by their accord and a bit stuck. I can’t update because my Apple ID has changed. Imgur has been easy over 10 years. I’ll figure it out I expect.
Is anybody in this discussion a paid member, and are you also getting hassled and had changes forced on you without and communication? I suspect that we're all unpaid users, but I'm curious if membership has something to do with a lack of communication before these changes.
I starting have issues recently using the app too. The share link from Imgur started including an "album" part of the filepath. If you delete that part of the link, and add the ".jpg" then it works
Posting some screenshots to clarify. Looking at your photo on the Imgur App, you would normally hit the red circled icon to get the share link: For some reason now it give the link to the "album" for this picture, even though it's just an individually uploaded picture. So you have to delete the part of the link that I highlighted red, and then add ".jpg" to the end. Then you can use it for the Image function on the BA forum
This is interesting. I haven’t seen anything like this yet and I only use the app to upload. I still get the link with .jpg and not the album. I’ve been updating regularly (and just before posting here). I’ll have to keep an eye out for that- thanks for the heads up! With all the issues people are having, there’s something going on with their service. Edit- I also post to a hidden album, maybe that’s part of it?
Testing. Well, @jmdrpi is right...but this annoyance will keep me from contributing from WBAYDN very much if this is the fix.
This works. It's only a minor pain in the ass, since you can edit the link after you paste it into the image window and before you insert it into the post. That said, I wasn't having any problems at all until after I updated the app yesterday. Kinda makes me wonder if something wasn't quite right with the update.
I just ran a review up the Play Store flagpole explaining (as best I could) the problem I've been having since the last imgur app update. We'll see if anybody salutes.
I'm not a paid member so I really can't help you there. And I only use the website and not the app so I'm sure it's different for app users.
I also use the website/desktop exclusively and I've figured out a way to live with these changes by using only one extra step, so I'm okay with using the site now. The point for which I was looking to find an answer was that it seemed strange that Imgur would make changes and not provide a banner with the notice and new instructions after you login, unless maybe paid members were favored with this new info. The rest of us are left hanging to figure it out ourselves. And it sounds like the app and the desktop have different new procedures to follow. So this thread is somewhat confusing because many of the new instructions being offered here are for the app, and those instructions are totally foreign to the desktop version. I don't know what other sites there that can serve as third party hosts for our photos, but this incident with Imgur is just another reason why BA should be finding a way to be a host if photos are deemed as being important to the activities of the site.
Imagine the rich visuals we could all be experiencing on a more regular basis if the simple act of posting a photo did not require an advanced degree in computer science.
