Usually around 3pm after lunch and 2-3 hours b4 dinner . I usually dont like to drink beer with food .
4:10 am. (When I worked the night shift [10 hr schedule] 5:30pm-4:00 am - had to have a beer for the drive home).
I never know when I might have a beer. The melting clock in the Salvador Dali painting The Persistence Of Memory is my beer clock.
When I drink during the week it's generally not until late afternoon or later. Weekends it's whenever places open, usually 11 or 12. On vacation it's whenever I get the urge.
On weekends, afternoon is fine as long as we're not going anywhere. Evenings are only until 7:30, so I don't anger the reflux monster. Very rarely I've had a morning beer, but only if it has "breakfast", "sunrise", or "morning" in the name. Who am I to argue with the brewer's intentions?
Most days the first beer I'll drink will be with lunch, which is usually brunch. My second for the day will be my 4:20 get dinner together beer, to quench my cottonmouth and help me to get motivated to cook for the family. After being a chef for 30 some years, the last thing I want to do is cook most days now that I no longer work. Beer helps me get a little fuel for the mule, a little gas for my ass. Sorry, old Popeye cartoon misquote. I am also a night person, so I'll be drinking some homebrew at 3am some mornings, but not often as I usually just drink water after 10. Special occasions are an entire different story. Camping, first thing in the morning is Miller Time. Vacation, ditto. I figure on average I consume 4-6 beers a day, depending on what is going on.
~4:30PM while starting to play with the dog so we can conclude in time for the start of the 5:00 news. One beer every night. Sometimes another if we are out for lunch or at some other event...many more if I find out that the in-laws are coming over.
AM or PM? :-) In my youth I recall being at the Colorado River having beer and pancakes in the AM before skiing, so I felt a clarification of your post was in order.
I’m good drinking most days anytime after 11am or noon. I’ll usually open a bottle of wine early on my day off since it takes a while to finish, same for a strong high abv beer in a larger format. You could convince me to start drinking earlier depending on the drink, like a mimosa or Bloody Mary, etc. (not often)
When I actually had a job I would often work late, so late evening with a beer and MASH reruns would get me relaxed. Now it's a couple of late evening beer reviews, and finish them off in the bath tub with the Wall Street Journal. This thread is sounding like confession time...
I normally have a beer around 5pm, but vacation is a different story. If the bar is open, I’m open to having a beer!
The pre-dinner beer tastes best and “feels” best to me. Ideally that is around 4-6pm timeframe, but now especially in the summer months with more outdoor work to do around the house after my office job, that gets pushed back many nights. Like others noted as I get older my tolerance for alcohol is less for me to sleep well and also feel sharp the next day, so really it’s a 1 beer a day situation, and I’m satisfied with that as well most of the time (sometimes a low ABV 12oz I may have a second beer). Sometimes I’ll have a 4pm beer after work, veg out for a while then get a second wind and do some chores /projects around the house closer to bedtime /before sun goes down. That works fine as well when only having 1 “happy hr” beer with a 2-3 hr break of dinner and veg out session.
What time is it now? 0744 hours and I'm partway through the first (and maybe last or maybe not) beer of the day. Generally, since I retired, I start the day off with my New Breakfast Beer while Mrs. Lizard is still sleeping. When I was gainfully employed, beers started after 1630, after 10-12 hour shifts as a working manager. The evening is usually finished with a shot or two of scotch or rye.
I note that a few people mentioned family responsibilities influencing when they drink. I pretty much quit drinking while our kids were in grade school and high school because I don't like driving when I've had even one drink. Too many times I had to go pick up a sick kid from a sleepover, or rescue a kid having car trouble (like total engine destruction, or totaling it). I didn't even take up craft until they were in college.
Sometimes a Pils or Lager with a light lunch . Usually it's around 4 pm when thinking about what to prepare or order for dinner. Weekends are game time on the tube unless going to a Pitt football game, then it's any time starting around noon. On Sundays when the kids and grand kids pop in it's party time and Steelers time, this is any time after 2 pm. Life is good!
