Hello BAs. Thirsty Thursday ready or not! I most certainly need a beer after the A/C techs 4.5 hr inspection. Not only do I need a beer but also a vacation!
Another cool rainy day here so Hammerheart Thor's Imp Hot Pepper Porter seems proper.
    Cheers!

Wow, I haven't posted in here for a long time. Just discovered a place with a pretty good selection, bought some beers and felt like it again.

Weizenbock, a Weizenbock from German brewery Klosterbrauerei Andechs (8%).

This makes for a relatively light and very drinkable Weizenbock that is heavy on the fruity esters, with a distinct apricot note in addition to the typical banana esters, as well as some sweet'ish malts and restrained grassy hops.

I know Chimay is as one of the bigger Belgian Trapist Beers highly regarded amongst beer afficionados.

I always had a bit of trouble with this. A good beer without doubt, but the taste always seems a bit rough around the edges.

But I like this one - the green blue strong one- pretty much, as for a 10% beer, it is round, hoppy, malty balanced with some modesty.

They’re outstanding, and at least here very affordable. The one you’re drinking is only a bit OTT for me because of the ABV you point out. Their triple is my preference…

Says the guy who drinks highly alcoholic Goudales :-)
I have noticed they did a white beer variation.
Would have tasted but I bailed out of the supermarchée at Givet as the rows there were to be counted one more than the fingers of two hands. Seems people around this area do not trust tapwater and load multiple carts with german Cristaline Springwater.

I can definitely drink high ABV beers but their strong blonde ale feels a bit off for me. Too boozy… and as you reviewed it I’ll agree. Otherwise a top notch selection they have.

You know Goudale is 8 abv - is it not- and more dry, but you taste the booze. Those Belgian monks are masters in masking, many times with sweetness, which iI do not fancy too much.
This Chimay -10 abv- seems quite balanced to me while the white one, is a good beer, but has for me a too much monk sweat and cat pee flavour for me :-)

    Victory Wheat NA Beer

There's a slight aroma of orange peel. This is modestly spritzy, not quite as much as a club soda. As for flavor, the best I can say is it tastes slightly like beer with a faintly woody finish. No hops seem to have been used and there is not a hint of bitterness. More of a club soda drink, like the faintly flavored sugarless sparkling waters.

Thanks, it's a mixture of stuff, although "reales Leben" certainly plays a role . If I'm gonna post more regularly in here again in the future, it'll probably be more German Lagers rather than international IPAs. The times they are a changing indeed.

That’s a fact, not gonna lie. I use to spend quite some Euros on very very worthy beers but if I got your post right. A matter of priority and money comes into play. I’ll still drink what I like and possibly cheaper. Don’t mind what you’ll be drinking, stop by and say hi ist gutt für mich.

It's not just a matter of money, but also just getting tired of chasing the dragon (FOMO). I also wanted to cut down on my beer intake and drink more casually, like I said, a mixture of a bunch of stuff coming together.

Weizen Doppelbock, a Weizenbock from German brewery Riegele (8%).

This makes for a pretty rich and malty Weizenbock that displays a good balance of dark and estery fruit notes of banana, blackcurrant, raisin and figs, as well as a pronounced, sweet'ish caramel malt presence. A very enjoyable example of the style that is not called a Weizen DOPPELbock for nothing.
