Huge thanks to Tomas (@Resistance88 ) for this beauty. Bass Clef from Hidef Brewing Company in Los Angeles. Not sure why BA lists this under Audio Graph Beer Company - Tomas - do you know? Anyway, this is an American barleywine double barrel aged in Buffalo Trace Bourbon casks followed by an aging in Heaven Hill Rye casks for a total of 1 year. 15.45% ABV.

Poured at just warmer than fridge temp. Pours a beautiful murky brown with a thin layer of tan head. The nose is exquisite. Massive rye and bourbon come through, along with plums, caramel, raisins, slight maple candy, and cinnamon cookies. Lovely.

The taste is insane. The 15.45% comes through here, but it doesn't taste too hot. Lovely. The rye is a bit more prevalent than the bourbon here, but both are strong. Vanilla, lemon cookies, cinnamon, toffee, molasses, maple, figs, prunes, slight hop bitterness (citrus peel flavor), and brown sugar. The sweetness/barrel dominate over the hops. A bit of anise comes through as it warms.

The mouthfeel is medium bodied and the aftertaste is barrel and toffee. Lovely beer overall. Glad to have gotten the chance to try it. Thanks, Tomas!!

This is almost for sure my first two-times-in-one-weekend post on NBW, but working through my vacation haul and I can't help myself. Last post I made was on Maine Beer Co's brown ale, now I'm on to the Caribbean Stout, and this one is also fantastic. Review below, Cheers!

Bottled 4/23/2025, drank 6/29/2025, and says best within 90 days, so we're in the clear.

Jet black body, inky, no light coming through, engine oil. Cappuccino rusty brown froth, hints of red, nice lacing on the glass. This is a looker. Nose is leather, old raisin, dark chocolate, licorice, some fruity sweetness. Taste is roasted coffee, dark chocolate, raisin, licorice, finishing both fruity and some hop bitterness, maybe like biting into a stone fruit pit. Fairly full, inky mouthfeel. Delightful.

An excellent WCIPA brewed with Strata. Very balanced, super drinkable, and really tasty!

Fieldworks Breakfast at Night BA Stout BBA Imp Stout, 15.0% ABV; 3.58 overall

Pours an effervescent ebony with fast-falling mocha colored head. Zero head retention & lacing

    S: Maple syrup, vanilla

T: Follows the nose, barrel presence, molasses, cinnamon, traces of booze. Decent barrel presence, much cinnamon, some vanilla as this beer warmed up. Finishes with barrel, vanilla & too much cinnamon

MF: Medium body, faint carbonation that just fades away & the carbonation too. Pretty sticky on the teeth, this fell apart on mouthfeel

Too much cinnamon & vanilla for me, not a bad beer, just wasn't all that, this much ABV should work mor in this beer's favor for me

Cheers, Russ! I was surprised that you had not ticked Swami's prior. Classic out here.
