Getting into another Homeplace (Burnsville, NC) brew, this being a SIPA weighing in at 4.7. Getting lots of grapefruit and pine from the Mosaic and Simcoe. Nicely done!
    Cheers!

Visited Balboa Park museums a handful of times over the years. Always something interesting on display.
I will never forget the Medieval Torture Exhibit from Italy maybe 10 years ago. I normally am not a squeamish guy BUT i experienced a Déjà vu borderline panic attack (which is not me either). I stepped out for 10 minutes, went back in, and immediately had to leave again. I occasionally have a Déjà vu moment but that was world-class for sure :scream:
Back in the real moment and enjoying a Bigfoot.
    Cheers!

    1) Phase Three Mindspark (7.8% canned 4/21/2025): A NEIPA from Chicago with Mosaic and Mosaic Cryo for flavors of smooth grape, berries, floral tangerine, tropical lime and green melon.
    versus
    2) Phase Three Baguette Bonanza (7.8% canned 6/11/2025): A NEIPA from Chicago with Citra, Mosaic, Galaxy & Elani for flavors of mango cream, melon sorbet, blueberry. (Correctly matched the two blind)

Phase Three NEIPA Battle. First is Mindspark. All Mosaic here and one of their best in my opinion. Smooth, robust, and tropical. Robust Mosaic and amazing what they can do with the single Mosaic hop.
Next is Baguette Bonanza. Citra, Mosaic, Galaxy plus some Elani for some pineapple and bright peach notes, even some mango. Fantastic flavors here, but still a bit too fresh and needs a few weeks to settle in and develop some of them.
    Winner: Mindspark

Cross posted with the what mid atlantic brew are you drinking now thread.

today while on vacation in PA I am drinking a PA brewed kolsch. this is Trauger Brewing out of Philly, PA and their Koelle Kolsch. Picked up this 5% ABV brew today at a local beer store.

    onto my review:
I am sampling a chilled 16 oz can poured into my snifter. Im not at home so glassware is more limited but this will do just fine.
canned on date stamped on can is 24172.... Im presuming feb 17 2024. But that is a long time ago. Hope this isnt that old. I like to try kolschs so I grabbed this one with out looking too closely.
the bee pours a mostly clear golden color with a fluffy bleached white head of 3 cm foaming up on my admittedly sort of aggressive pour.
This foam fades slowly to a sturdy surface covering and I get some windowpane lattice when I sip or swirl from my beer.
Aroma is pretty mild with some grainy malt and cracker mixing with a little grassy hop note. But nose is pretty muted overall.
First sip reveals a light body with very smooth texture with very fine and tingly carbonation. Beer drinks very easy, which is expected for the style.
Flavor profile is some grain and cracker and then a little lemon and some white grape note too. Finish is very dry and hints of bitey spicy hop note lingers long after each swallow. The dryness encourages me to take the next sip.
Pretty good brew for a hot summer day while on vacation. I would drink it again. Sort of anxious to see how some of the other brews that I bought from this style measure up.
    3.98 in the BA DB

Enjoy your Alaskan trip Van @Ocalafox ! Juneau is one of the few capitals on my tic list, one of two I can’t drive to from Chicago.

Second pour, this one much better.

Bizarre Brewing -- Crow of Desperation
    English-style rye stout
    ABV 4.4%; pouring temperature: 41.7 °F; canning info: 04/01/25

Phenomenal look; different colors of the pour (depending upon the light) -- dark purple, garnet, dark brown -- all clear; dark and opaque body in the glass; beautifully dense and creamy head, tan colored and long-lasting. Gorgeous nose; rich dark grains; mocha with a hint of rye spiciness. Rich and flavorful; cocoa and dark, bitter chocolate; grain char bitterness; semi-sweet. Heavy mouthfeel; dense and viscous; charred grain dryness.

This well-crafted rye stout hits on all cylinders. It brings a robust complexity and balance to the palate. I detected the rye primarily in the smell; but it likely added a nice, expansive element to the taste profile as well. Just a beautiful dark beer.
