    Drinking Westmalle Tripel after a full weekend celebrating my cousins 50th birthday. I’ve been fairly moderate re: booze, as we’ve been partying for hours on end.

    Floral Budget Wild Ale with Oolong Tea from Oude Northwest

    Aroma is sharp and fruity with tea in the nose. Taste is not exactly sour, but very tart and super tangy. Some fruity flavors in the Belgian style. This is quite woody tasting, like more of the barrel than was good for it. Or more of the Oolong tea than anybody needs. It tastes more like tea the more you sip. And more bitter. Canned 01/19/24, almost a year and a half ago, so maybe it's mellowed a little.

    Today, my two new beer experiences are: My first from Toronto's Carling Brewery, their 4.9% Carling Lager (I remember, growing up, when the daughter was a Canadian tennis player; very beautiful, too, if I recall correctly), and then, pictured with Sundae, the 10% Barrel Aged Imperial Stout, my ninth from nearby Windsor's Walkerville Brewery...

    On Sundays, since my lady Pamela has collected banned books since she was 13 (she recalls being told at school, in London, that she couldn't read Margaret Laurence's 1974 final novel, The Diviners, because of sexual content, and she felt, and rightfully so, how dare anyone dictate what I can and cannot read, and then went to the city's exemplary City Lights bookshop and was able to purchase it), I tip my fedora to her, and take a picture of the day's two beers, bookending a banned book from her collection. So today, my beers bookend her copy of D.H. Lawrence's final novel, from 1928, Lady Chatterley's Lover...

    On another part of the label, it says Private Brewery Jhring-Melchior. Kinda confusing.
