It's hot out now, so morning with breakfast I love a good hefeweizen - still have strong coffee, though. Shower beers also hit pretty nicely.
Just retired one month ago. I start drinking at lunch time. Finish by 4pm. I wake up at 5am and walk 1 to 1 1/2 hours every morning. It’s a fast pace walk. Since retired I’ve been working inside the house just cleaning out every closet, storage, garage that’s been accumulating four the last 28 years. I take care of all chores in the morning so that leaves my afternoon open to relaxing with a couple of cold ipa’s while listening to music. 2-3 times a week I’ll visit one of my 3 local breweries. One of my buddies is also retired so we meet up for lunch once a week. I’ve been busy meeting up with some of my ex co-workers for lunch and beers. I rarely have a beer in the evening.
My week day routine is pretty similar. Get home, change, throw the ball for the dog, crack a beer and jump in the pool, then start dinner. During the winter, same game plan but no pool. Fridays is generally date night with the wife and typically isn’t a beer if we chose to drink— normally a cocktail. Saturday/Sunday vary. We typically have a family dinner on one of those days and I’ll split a beer or two with those interested in partaking then.
Almost never before 5 or 6 PM, depending on what I am doing. No set times, whenever the day's project is done, it's time for a beer.
When I was working, my beer o'clock was whenever I got home; no matter what time it was. Retired two years ago, and now my attempts to maintain a 5 or 6pm beer o'clock have given way to 3:30 to 4pm. side note: after at least 10 years of two beers daily, followed by 1 or 2 bourbons, my wife and I are trying out the carnivore diet for 90 days. So, no alcohol for 90 days. Been nearly four weeks. I do miss the daily brews but want to see what 90 days of self-control will do for me. I am not going to give beer up; will go the full 90 days, and have a couple of Belgian ales to pause and consider on day 91.
NOrmally I'll wait to have one till the kiddo is in bed and we're settled on the couch. Once in a while if it's a rough day at work I may have one while getting dinner ready. Weekends it'll be late afternoon, generally. Vacations or weekends at the Cape is different too, especially if on the boat. i won't have one while we're moving, but as soon as we're moored, i'll pop one. A cocktail when we get back to the house and often wine with dinner. Occasionally port or bourbon or something after dinner too. Exceptions would be going to a brewery for something, or if my friend with season tickets invites me to a game - 1:00 start means gates at 10...
Friday after work. Usually between 6 and 7 PM. Occasionally a weekday, like today, if it’s a holiday or a day off! Saturday, around 4 PM.
