Well I decided to leave Rocks and Cows land and I am in Minneapolis. Wild Mind Brewing is going to be closing in the near future, and I wanted to make one more trip here.

The flavor is quite good. Body does seem slightly light, and the aroma is lacking. I am going to enjoy this final beer here.

    On tap at the brewery.

Pitch black looking beer in the glass. There is a thin brown head to the beer.
Aroma is way lighter than expected. I am getting a super faint hint of coffee, and nothing else.
Taste - there's a hint of caramel and chocolate malts that hit right away. The malts fade and a hit of coffee shows up. It is smooth and mellow. It is slightly creamy.
The body is fairly smooth and slightly creamy feeling. It does get slightly light on the finish.
This overall is a tasty beer.

Be back later elsewhere for more.

RAR Out Of Order That's My Jam! PBM Fruited Sour, 5% ABV. Pours opaque yellow with a 3/4 finger of off-white head that leaves puree residue. Aroma is banana, peanut butter, and marshmallow. Taste follows, quite sweet, slightly tart, peanut butter in the aftertaste. Smooth and creamy mouthfeel, overall excellent.

Clear, golden pour and body; packed with small-bubble carbonation, lively; thick head, white and frothy with a bumpy, rolling top; long lasting. Fantastic aroma; delicate cracker background with a nice, low-key herbal hop note. Wonderfully rich and balanced taste; light cereal grain; subdued hop bitterness; a touch of lemon; faint herbal notes. Smooth mouthfeel; medium bodied; soft with a slight juiciness.

This is a wonderful little number. This rich and flavorful kölsch brings some incredible depth and complexity to the palate. Truly outstanding!

I was feeling rushed at the store the other day so I grabbed a Sierra Nevada "Little Thing" mix-pack. I'm a little surprised I had not had some of these beers.

Purchased 2-days ago from a store cooler and kept cold until served. Poured to Nonic from a 16oz can dated 05/27/25, (2-months old).
The body is a deep gold with a thick white head three-finger head that laces well in successive rings.
The aroma is mild, but there is some peach/nectarine. I can sense alcohol with a whiff.
The taste is also peach but there is a hop burn or alcohol burn present.
The mouthfeel is medium. Carbonation is fine.
Not special, but not fresh either.

Good Sunday afternoon, New Beer Samplers and commentators. I was down the shore this weekend and had a couple of really good beers so today is the day for proper NBS reviews. First up is Lights Please, Lights Please 1, a DIPA from The Seed in Atlantic City. Although it isn't well-known outside New Jersey, The Seed is generally considered to be one of the top breweries in the state. For me, it's right up there with Kane. This ale is hopped with Simcoe, NZ Cascade, and @crosbyhops Estate Chinook. So it has a definite New Zealand vibe. Although I purchased the pack at Joe Canal's and the can isn't dated, it was announced on Facebook on 7/18 so it was canned no more than 2 weeks ago.

It pours an opaque, grassy pastel orange with a full finger cap of fluffy, milk-white foam and heavy lacing. A big, fruity nose featuring grapefruit, lemon, pineapple, and white grape. The taste follows with lots of tart grapefruit and lemon balanced by the sweetness of pineapple, a kiss of berry or apricot from the NZ Cascade, dry white wine, and a hint of pine sap. I'm also tasting a distinct earthy spiciness from the Chinook. Beneath is a firm, crackery malt base. The Chinook also provides a strong, clean bitterness throughout. This ale is very well balanced; the flavors are distinct yet soft. There is no hop burn. It is fairly lite and crisp with pleasant carbonation, and it doesn't drink like 7.5% ABV. It appears this is the first batch of what will be a series. If so, then it's one to watch.

    Hey Russ,
Not to be a know it all but "Heavy Resin" is Burial's regular IPA line and not the name of a beer. They also have a "Dream Candy" line that is NEIPA's. The name of your beer is actually "There Is Only Perception Where Fact Once Laid". The beer names are quite tedious, especially to add which i have done a few times so understand the confusion!

Me, just got back from Frog Level Brewing in Waynesville, NC which is just west of Asheville in the next county. The venue was great, so relaxing with a nice outdoor space on a river branch. Got to enjoy an old school IPA that was pretty darn close to how @JackHorzempa described for us yesterday along with a tasty Brisket Sammie. Overall, a great visit. Onto the review:

Enjoyed two pint pours at the brewpub while having lunch with Da Boss on 7-27-25 for $6.00 each.

Beer poured orange gold with a very nice white head that left lacing behind.

Nose is nice, getting old school citrus and floral hops.

Taste is spot-on old-school IPA. The malt base is mostly pale with a touch of crystal to deepen the color and make a touch sweeter. Hopping brings grapefruit and orange in the aroma and taste while the back end has a nice piney bitterness; 7/10 on my scale.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied and smooth yet refreshing.

Overall, a delicious brew. I rarely go back to the first brew while visiting a new brewpub, but this one scratched my need for an old school IPA!
    Cheers!

I lived through another sleepover my daughter had last night (two weeks in a row!). My wife needs to stop scheduling these when she is working!

With the gaggle of giggling 8 year old girls now a thing of the past, I’m enjoying my air conditioned abode, relaxing with a well deserved beer. Today, it is Persian Pilsner from Goldenfield Brewery of Toronto.

What makes this Persian you ask? It isn’t the ingredients. The can indicates British Pale Ale malts and Nelson Sauvin hops are used. The tasting notes suggest hints of Persian lime and Shiraz grape. We shall see. I believe the people behind the brewery are of Persian background. It’s a nice spot in an area underserved for breweries in the city.

Pours a very pale straw gold with good clarity. Mild head that dissipates quickly. Quite effervescent.

The aroma certainly has a mild lime element to it. More dominant is an aroma reminiscent of the cucumber water they serve at fancy spas. Grassy notes sit in behind.

More cucumber water on the tongue. Lots of grassy and herbal qualities as well. An ever so slight soda cracker note clings to life on the finish.

    Light bodied. Well carbonated.

Overall a decent lager. I quite like when used in hazy IPAs. Not sure I like it as much on this kind of beer. The cucumber notes are very strong and would likely prevent me from buying again.

I mentioned Friday’s SAN in which all but one (Mexican Cake) was new to me.
I’ll share the photo now and review one or two at a time so I’m not writing a book here.
The one on the far left is La Negra from La Cumbre Brewery in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
BBA RIS - interesting in that there was no brewery info on the label, no ABV, not even the fact it was barrel aged.
But we soldiered on and popped the top.
Pored stout black with a nice brown head that dissipated quickly. (Hmmmm, thinking UnTapped might have the wrong ABV listed.)
The taste is reminiscent of an English stout; just something about the malt that is used. Does Mexico tend to follow British brewing styles? May have to research.
The feel is pleasantly viscous, it has the feel of a WW Stout - not syrupy but malt dense.
One of our favorites for the night.
Back later with “The REAL Mexican Cake” from Evil Twin Brewing.
    Cheers!

Tree House Baby Fern is the latest addition to the excellent Fern series. I wanted to try lower abv offerings this trip and Little Fern clocks in at 5.2% New Zealand style pale ale. Pours a golden yellow murk with a sturdy cottony head that reduced sticky tree rings down the glass. Aroma is lemon lime. Taste is lemon lime, peaches, Delic middle end with white grape, oofah! Mild grapefruit bitter left in your mouth. Creamy, light, zesty refreshing on this warm sunny summer Sunday afternoon on the deck.
    Extremely flavorful pale ale.
    Home run!

Good afternoon, fellow BA'ers. I'm battling the latest heat advisory and thunderstorm warning, out here in McGregor, with my lady Pamela and her two exceptional cats. Whilst Pamela sips some shiraz and is investigating Antique Roadshow UK, I'm investigating not two, but three new beers...

First, it's my first from Greene King of Bury St. Edmunds, England, their 5% Abbot Ale. This was quite delectable and had wonderful presence. A delightful, rich aftertaste. Initially I gave it 3.75/5, but I'm really starting to think a 4 or even 4.25 is much more appropriate...

Second, it's my second brew by nearby Kingsville's The Grove Brewing Company, and their 5% Lupulin Express Pale Ale. This was a strong 4/5; it has a delightfully sharp grapefruity, pine aroma, and was very delectable upon my palate. Highly recommended...

More to come...A nip from Toronto...and the one that got away...

    Cheers from McGregor, Ontario! =)

Cabarrus Brewing Co. Koln Hearted Kolsch, 4.8% ABV; 4.48 overall

Pours a bright & effervescent gold with a pinky of pearl colored head. Stays effervescent throughout the pour. very good head retention & lacing

S: Perfumy hops & pears, great nose

T: Nice crackery notes, white grapes, pears & herbal hops up front. Grassy notes, herbal hop bitterness & crackery/bready notes once warmed up. Finishes crisp with pear & cracker notes along with grassy & herbal hops

    MF: Light/medium body, delicate carbonation

Nails the style, easy to drink, perfect for this hellish weather

Next up is Magnificent Desolation, an American Imperial Stout Gusto Brewing Co., in North Cape May, New Jersey. It is the southernmost brewery in the state. And while it doesn't achieve much notoriety on BA, I've never had a subpar beer there. This Stout is conditioned on coconut and vanilla bean and is first rate. I had a draught pour yesterday and bought cans. My only constructive criticism is that the mouth feel is a bit thin for 9.1%. But Gusto nailed the coconut and vanilla.

I let it sit at room temperature for 2 hours before pouring. It pours mahogany with some cola hues at the bottom of the glass. The frothy, light khaki-colored head dissipated quickly leaving a ring around the glass. It has a big aroma of roasted malt, coconut, chocolate, and vanilla bean. It is spot-on for the advertised style: The flavors include freshly-brewed coffee, chocolate, vanilla bean, and earthy char with hints of dark fruit and tobacco. None of the tastes overwhelm the others. It is neither overly sweet nor bitter. The balance is excellent. My only criticism is that for a 9.1% Stout the mouth feel is a little thin but the ABV itself is well-hidden. Overall, Magnificent Desolation is a first rate American Imperial Stout. The coconut and vanilla are handled deftly.

    Thumbprint Imperial Pilsner
    8.7% by New Glarius

Poured from twelve ounce can, the body is clear gold with large fluffy white head. Light lacing.

Aroma is light floral hops and sweet malt.

Taste follows nose with the malt carrying the load. Only a wee bit of alcohol despite the high ABV for this style. The malt sweetness is not overly done, but it is present. Good crisp finish as things dried up nicely with a bit of trailing bitterness.

Mouthfeel is crisp but off a bit as the carbonation was a bit too low.

Good tasting pilsner that I'd like to retry as I think the carbonation was off.
