Le Veilleur de Biers ‘Giant Coocoo’ Black IPA

Presenting a well made Organic French Black DIPA, 8% abv.
Poured well chilled into a can-glass.
Pops a decent head that melted down to an island of tan foam.
Nose blooms of grapefruit, orange rind, tropical fruit mix, and a hint if spice that’s matched with medium roast coffee notes.
Taste matches the aroma. The hop bill of Nugget, Amarillo and Williamette makes for a different drinking experience. Unique. Not the ‘same old’. The hops sing, the malt bill is tight, and the roast brings a welcomed coffee hit. Right fine bitterness on finish and a lingering taste that reemerges as a pleasant and fragrant burp.
Mouthfeel comes off rather light but way smooth from the addition of flaked oats. Medium complimentary carbonation.
Overall, an explosion of muscular flavors.
    I’ll have another, please!

The label gives recommendations to accompany the beer and make it a rounded experience:
Food: Roquefort cheese or fruit salad.
    Movie: Tango & Cash
    Music: Wonderland - Balkan Bump

[IMG] Poured into a 13 oz Teku glass canned on 7/16/25. Pours a very hazy orange with a finger sticky white head that leaves thick webs of lace with excellent retention. 4.5

Aroma is peach, guava, tangerine, mango, and apricot really juicy. 4.75

Taste follows peach, guava, mango, tangerine, and apricot, I am not getting any pineapple or vanilla from the lactose, but extremely impressive. 4.75

Mouthfeel is above average, not sticky or dry, soft gentle carbonation, and at 8.4% big flavor but still insanely easy to drink. 4.75

Overall this stuff is straight up natural juice. Well done Tree House, as I now expect. 4.75 Cheers all

Brewers notes Extra Coconut Human Condition is a rich and delicious Tree House stout with notes of caramel, chocolate, and an extra massive charge of toasted coconut! It is designed to capture the spirit and flavor of caramel coconut cookies with chocolate drizzle.

Pouring a deep black color into the glass, its frothy tan head releases aromas of toasted coconut, milk chocolate, and creamy coffee.
With our first sip, we taste notes of soft baked macaroons and chocolate ice cream topped with crunchy coconut flakes, fading into a caramel candy finish.

In the breadth of the human condition, we hope this beer can offer a moment of joy amidst the endless ups and downs we encounter as we make our way through this fortunate journey of life.

Black motor oil on the pour, no head

Aroma of Roasted malts , coconut

taste of roasted malts, coffee coconut

    Fizzy thick mouthfeel

Good beer, didn’t rock my world

    New Glarus IPA
    [IMG]
    Appearance: Clear yellow-gold, good head.

    Smell: Nice grapefruit aroma.

Taste: Nice sweetness followed by a big hit of old-school grapefruit bitterness. One of my favorite IPA taste profiles, sweetened grapefruit! Medium bodied. Finishes dry with grapefruit.

Overall: @GreenBayBA handed me this bottle. For some reason I had avoided it up until now. I rue this missed opportunity! I will have to pick up a 6er or two next time I'm in Wiscoland, this just hits the right spot for me with IPAs!

Beatrice's English Amber from Bickford Brewing Co.

Poured a 473ml can into a pint glass. A two finger fine light tan head on a hazy reddish brown. The head settles to a persistent layer. Lots of patchy lacing.

Caramel malts in the nose. Tastes of buttery caramel. Faint coffee notes. A long, dry mild hop finish.

A smooth, buttery texture. A medium/light body and light carbonation. Overall a decent English Bitter.

Fonta Flora ( Nebo, NC ) Hello, Hawksbill New England Style IPA, 7.0% ABV; 3.8 overall

Pours a hazy gold with a thumb+ of ivory colored head. Great lacing & average-ish lacing

S: Some citrus, melons & grassyness, nose could be better

T: Follows the nose, some white grapes, a little dryness up front. Dryness, pomelo, passion fruit, guava & green melon as this beer warms up, plus musty white grape skins. Finishes with citrus, green melon, white grapes & a touch of dryness

MF: Medium body, restrained carbonation, great balance, a little gritty

Super drinkability, not sure I'd buy it again

I'm having a fun Saturday cleaning out the garage and making a run to the recycling center. I continue to be amazed by the amount of cardboard we accumulate.
After a shower I'm ready for a beer. I'm drinking Chai Marty from Prairie Artisan Ales, an imperial stout with an ABV of 13.6%.
The beer is black. There is a tiny brown/orange head clinging to the circumference of the glass.
Aroma of roasted malt, booze. Sweet.
Taste of espresso, chocolate, bourbon. Chai spice. A touch of honey.
    Oily mouthfeel.
    Another great stout from Prairie.

Great week in Maine so far. We are at Barreled Souls and it's just a gorgeous day! More on that later...

I had Wolf's Neck IPA from Main Beer last night. Sorry - no picture at the moment. Can't copy and paste two things at the same time on the phone.

Pours a slightly hazy golden color with a generous rocky white head that lasts. Great cling to the glass. If it was clear it'd be a stunner.

Aroma is citrus and fruit - peach of apricot with grapefruit. Slight amount of pine resin. Bready malt and a very slight sweetness and a little berry.

Nicely blended taste. Getting slightly sweet and bready malt, a fair punch of grapefruit with a bit of resin. Stone fruit in the peach or apricot neighborhood. Getting some orange and tangerine notes that I dont get on the nose. There's some tropical fruit flavor and it's saying mango with some resiny bite. It finishes with a mild bitterness and a spicy white peppery note.

It's medium bodied, lively carbonation, dry-ish fininsh.

Overall a nice beer. Easy to drink with well-balanced flavors. Rated a 4.02.

RAR Out Of Order Cherry Dip Cone Fruited Smoothie Sour, 5% ABV. To say this pours thick is a gross understatement. I've never had a beer before where I opened it and tried to pour, but nothing came out. I shook it slightly, then a goop slowly started to pour like gel, and it eventually thinned to extremely thick liquid. Apparently the ice cream had floated to the top. Pink with a pink 'head' that left puree/lactose residue. Aroma is cherry and ice cream (vanilla and lactose). Taste follows, quite sweet, faintly tart. Extremely thick, creamy, and slightly gritty mouthfeel. Overall outstanding.

Is the Midwest Hazy IPA a thing?
    I’d say yes.
Liquid Quasar from Broadleaf. At least they didn’t label it as an East Coast Hazy.
The pour is along the lines of a hazy, an opaque yellow orange with a little manilla colored head that left no lacing. It at least looks the part.
The taste though - not that it is bad, just not what I was wanting. The hops seem muddled instead of bright, any citrus flavors are lost in the process. It actually seemed to be malt balanced with some biscuit flavors swirling through.
The feel is medium, not a problem drinking it.
OA, I suppose it would appeal to people who don’t like hoppy beers, even though it’s crammed with them.
    Rather a curious beer.
    Cheers!

Real Ale Brewing, Favorable Conditions. Labeled on the can as a West Coast IPA, 6.5% ABV.

Pours a clear golden yellow color. A dense white head forms with good retention and plenty of lace left behind.
Big fruity aromas up front. A mix of melon, citrus, grapefruit. Simple, but enjoyable.
Taste wise, like the nose, that fruit salad mix. That goes from melon, generic tropical fruits, citrus, grapefruit again. The tropical fruity/melon character specifically gives this more of a sweetness that boarders on "juicy." A light bitterness, that could linger on stronger IMO. Still enjoyable.
A medium body and moderate carbonation. Overall a very nice IPA to drink and come back to.

If you brighten the grapefruit and bitterness intensity, this is a top tier IPA. As is, the more tropical and melon fruits sicks out a bit more than I would want. Still a very nice IPA to drink and come back to. Another quality offering from Real Ale.

Overall score is 3.82, easy B+

Purchased yesterday from a store cooler and kept cold until served. Poured to Nonic from a 16oz can dated 04/16/25.
The body is a light gold that is not quite clear. The white head is ¾ inch/18mm and fades rather fast to a 2mm ring. There is lacing on tilt, but it falls back within 15 seconds.
The aroma is of rising bread and with an herbal background.
The taste is clean and balanced. Malt adds biscuit and cracker in the front. The back is all hops and a little spicy. The finish is quite dry. At 5% the alcohol is hidden.
The mouthfeel is light. Carbonation is pretty prominent despite the disappointing head.
    This beer is very crushable.

Packaged September 18th, 2024 - enjoyed August 2nd, 2025 - poured from a 12oz can into my Celebrator doppelbock glass.

Nearly impenetrable cordovan body with auburn highlights and a fine dun cap. Silky lacing, faint legs, excellent retention.

Melanoidin rich malt aroma with hints of toffee, toast, coffee, and figs.

Potent malt and booze up front with vanilla, caramel, chestnut, pipe tobacco, baker's chocolate, and faint char. Long, medium-dry finish with some residual heat. Barrel presence is strong but not overpowering. Mild bitterness...vague hints of earth and cherry in the aftertaste.

Faintly oily/syrupy mouthfeel - light astringency. Decent carbonation.

Just short of stupendous - an excellent base beer with hefty bourbon notes.

    Good afternoon BA
This one is billed as a stock ale, which caught my attention. My first old ale tick in a year and just my second in the last five. I averaged two a year prior to 2020.

    Hoppin' Frog
Frogs Got the Jack Barrel-Aged Overdriven Stock Ale
    [IMG]

16oz can BEST BY AUG 27 2027 poured into an oversized snifter at fridge temp 9.2% ABV per label. The beer pours mostly bright dull amber with meager off white head. A minute after pouring, there's an incomplete pencil thin ring and a few scattered bubbles. No lacing. The aroma is mild with caramel malt and oak barrel. The taste is semisweet caramel (more English than American) malt, subtle bourbon, oak and char. Minimal bitterness. The feel is medium bodied with less than medium carbonation and a semi dry finish. The barrel saves the finish from being overly sweet. Overall, good old ale.

I miss this style. Should start homebrewing again, but struggle to make the time. Cheers all!
