    Hello to everyone in BA Land! Hope you are having a fine summer day today-- or maybe it's stinkin' hot and ready for a cheap lager. In any case, tell us what you're enjoying (or hydrating with).

    Here is Starway Stout from Barrel Mountain Brewing in Battle Ground, Washington. Sudsy and mouth-filling. Aromas of roasted grain. Starts out slightly sweet with a taste of cocoa. Flavors of dark caramel, cola, and a touch of charred grain. A winey finish with quite just a little bitterness. This is really good, I find. Reminds me of the Black Patent malt flavor from making homebrew.

    Truck Beer - Slowdive (Amber Saison)

    This is a tiny brewery that makes mostly saisons I think, and has its taproom near the ferry terminal for the ferries to and from Sakurajima.

    My son and I just got back to the room from Beer Club Popeye's here in Tokyo. This place is a must go to if in Tokyo. At least currently they have happy hour every day of the week. Order a beer with a crown next to the name comes with free food.
