    Greetings all!

Hoping your Saturday is relaxing, drama-free and exciting for those of you looking forward to hit some breweries or activities today.

Drinking Lagunitas IPA in its new bottle/label.

    Re Treehouse,

I have been reading yesterday’s threat specifically regarding Treehouse, and there seems to be some disconnect, so I will explain my experience with them in hopes others get a better insight.

I have been to Treehouse three times, the original farmhouse location in Moncton, the Charlton location, and the Deerfield just a few weeks ago.

The first time about 10 years at the original location everyone stood in line and waited to get to the people taking the order and getting the payment (not unlike Hill Famstead at the time). (4-pack orders). Line moved at a good clip.

The second time a few years later, not to soon after the Charlton location opened I went. There was no information as to how to get beers, so I just assumed it was the same as the farmhouse, wrong! First off, the place is humongous (and beautiful) so I was really excited, the line was huge, and was not moving as fast as it had at the farmhouse (despite far more employees present). When I got to the top of the line they had these white posters saying what was available and the limit per order. I stared giving my order verbally, and someone would go get it. Well the first item comes to my carrying case holder and it was just two cans, so I started explaining that I wanted two-four packs and the person gave me this incredulous look, so I asked him what he didn’t understand, and in this heightened tension he timidly explained that the orders were taken in single cans! So I said okay, but that was not explained anywhere. So, I had to multiply all my numbers by four. I got my order and had two drinks in the great bar, which was practically empty, as most people were drinking outside in a great area with wooden like beach chairs and tables. Not the best experience overall, but the beer was great, and I seriously doubt that there is a better NEIPA in Mass! (I hit Trillium directly afterwards, in the Boston suburb, and that was a better experience, but as good as the beer was, and it was great, it was not as good as Treehouse IMHO).

A few weeks ago on my beer shopping quick trip, I stopped at Treehouse Deerfield. Prior to making the trip I did all the logistics and how to purchase the beer. I got to Treehouse 15 minutes before opening, placed my order (in 4-packs), they brought my order out as soon as Treehouse opened, I put my order into the coolers filled with ice, parked the car and went inside to have a few beers (10 minutes). The place is not as nice as the Charlton location IMHO, but in the present time their efficiency was incredible! (maybe they corrected their mistakes of the past).

Long story short, on this last trip I continued to The Alchemist, and their order and delivery method is exactly as Treehouse, top notch and extremely efficient! Two great breweries giving their customers efficiency and quality so they can enjoy their beers.

Thanks VABA, interesting experience. Obviously I only had Julius thanks to a generous trader, but have zero knowledge about going to Tree House and dealing with everything you point out.

Experiences will vary, some happy, others not as much. I’m probably the one responsible for sparking this discussion yesterday evening - all good, ultimately we compare our knowledge and thoughts.

Full review linked above, full New Beer Weekend #265 treatment linked here. This experience is summed up as similar to what I’d imagine jamming a pack or three of Big Red in your mouth. Really hoping the untainted XV beer turns out much better.

Neil would be signing a different tune if he drank this beer before writhing this song.

It was a good discussion, glad you provoked it! :grinning:

But, seriously everyone has their own unique taste, so there really is no one better beer than another, so I think we are all reasonable adults that just like to state our opinions at the virtual bar after a few beers.

I just wanted to add my purchasing experience there because they were so different, and now the experience is so efficient, since they actually cart the beer out from the cooler in a hand truck (cart dolly) to your car, so there is no waiting in line, and the experience is done as quickly as one puts the beer in the car. Cheers!

I’ve been to Charlton a good number of times in recent years, and there’s never been much line for to-go beers. These days you can put in your order online, at electronic kiosks or to the person at the register. You do have to wait while they pack it up for you, but only takes about five minutes. They have two inside bar lines (and sometimes an outside one) now: roughly one for NEIPAs and one for lagers, with other styles dancing between. The NEIPA line can be 7 or 8 minutes at nonpeak times, but does move fairly efficiently. Just sharing info. :beers:
