Photo trouble with iPhone

    I have noticed several people posting beer photos with black borders. It's a problem with sizing pix to fit the 150X300 pixels format. See examples below. One member said "I’ve tried in the past to get pictures to not have the black bands, but I can’t figure it out. The ones that don’t have the bands usually are distorted and/or are grainy. I snap the pictures with my iPhone and use imageresizer.com to get to 150x300 with under 20kb. I’m up for suggestions to fix the problem!"

    Thanks if anyone can explain a good procedure for sizing phone shots! And they can be bigger than 20 kb now.

    I use PicMonkey to edit my pix. There are tons of variables with photos. Size, resolution and no additional subject matter (borders, stuff in the background) are my focus. This is more difficult with Place Pix. Some images are just simply harder to get right. Large bottles can be a challenge but I found by simply cropping out part of the bottle, like the neck, and concentrating on the label is what is working for me now. Make sure your camera isn't tilted or is askew and that the subject you want is in the center of the frame. I haven't had the black border pop up in any of my images. It must be that app or site.

    I mean, I'm on Android, but thanks to the 90s email-ass format of the response columns on this website, I can't post photos unless it's taken from a URL on a different website (or if I can, I have no idea how)

    For the Forums, yes the photos have to come from Flickr or some other photo-posting website. For beer LABELS, tho, you just submit thru the actual beer entry on BA from your computer or phone photo file.
