If it makes you feel better to have the last word then by all means you can have it sir! It's just nice to see that you were able to come around and accept the superiority of the Tall Boy Kraft Can

    1) Coors Light isn't that bad. It's not necessary good, but it's not undrinkable or gag-worthy. It's just a low-profile, water-like drink and it's serviceable for what it is. If mid truly means mid, then Coors Light is mid

    2) IPA hipsters ruined the beer market. More than half of craft beer is now just bottled horse piss with some abstractionist painting of two dogs humping as the artwork.

    3. If "hard seltzers" and those weird "buzz ball" things can be considered beer, then hard cider should be too

    4. I feel like most beer snobs are lying out of their asses when they describe 20+ different "notes" in the tastes and aromas of various beers. Like when they open up a can of Budweiser and talk about how they "detect notes of cherrywood, lemongrass, green apples, orange juice, toasted brioche bread and coriander", I can't help but raise an eyebrow and say "c'mon, man..."

THANK YOU. It's absolutely infuriating how I-Piss-As always have like 50 different subcategories, but all lagers get are "pilsner or non pilsner", it's ridiculous, especially when you want to hone in specific types of lagers to help develop on concise flavor profile

Pliney the Elder is still a fantastic brew. Even at a month and a half from bottling.

Pretty much every liquor store, Untappd. The only two places where I haven't seen them considerer as such are this website and the beer subreddit

While I can’t comment on how liquor stores in your area describe them, Untappd certainly doesn’t consider them beers. BuzzBallz products are clearly listed as flavored malt beverages and seltzers as hard seltzers.

Its a hot take because to me fresh Bigfoot isnt that great and it tastes like a expired old IPA. Just my opinion.

I think that was too good to last. Before them Narragansett was doing the 16 oz can 6 packs of their seasonals and craft line for less than 10 bucks and that ended as well. The Bock, Summer Ale, Marzen, and Porter were all a part of that. They also had a Bohemian Pilsner and Cream Ale as well as some others. All cheaper 16 oz can 6 packs, all gone now.

While I'll admit that Bigfoot is vastly over-hopped for a Barleywine, I'll never understand the take of 'Barleywines taste like IPAs". I've never had that experience.

Disagree w/the last statement but that's not the point of me replying.

I just want to say ... I had a pint of Pliny the Elder yesterday at Russian River Brewing (Santa Rosa) and not only was it a fantastic brew - I think I had forgotten just how magical it is. I've had many WCIPAs and DIPAs in my life and yesterday reminded me of how perfect PtE is. Would be a desert-island beer easily. (*Blind Pig could also fit. I don't think they need to be pitted against each other.)

Agreed. The Hazy IPA was the death knell of craft beer

    Lol. Wankers

    To this I'd add:

    - Not to name names, but second wave craft breweries that sold out are annoying af. They have become the very thing that craft beer rebelled against in the first place. They just reinforced the fact that it wasn't ever about the beer or about being different, it was always just about the money. That's just sad.

    - The vast majority of brewery taprooms are boring places to drink beer.

    - Modern day craft beer will never be what craft was in the late 90s and early 2000s. That's okay, but things will just never be as good as they were then.

Even if they are on the hoppy side, like Bigfoot, Old Guardian, Old Numbskull, Old Ruffian (RIP), they shouldn't.

Now that I no longer have access to Pliny, nevermind fresh Pliny, I’ll take what I can get!

Tap rooms and craft beer bars suck because they don't give out free rounds.

For awhile there (say, 20+ years ago...) I figured it was because I started limiting myself to 2 beers a visit - because of both the higher ABV & cost of the beers I was drinking and the tavern industry's switch from a 6-7 oz. glass of draught beer to the faux pint of ~13-14 oz.

But the old "social contract" between beer drinker and bartender seemed dead - "I'll leave you a good tip, you comp me every 3rd or so beer". (Well, maybe only the last half was truly dead...:grimacing:)

OTOH, I had heard bar owners complain about that - "The bartender is giving people "free" drinks that I pay for to get tips that go right into his pocket." (This obviously in places without a system of keeping track of the freebies).

I still recall, sometime in the 90s I'd guess, when my wife was shocked to see I left a two buck tip for two beers we drank at a bar. She was a bartender in her college bar a decade and a half earlier - probably selling 8 oz. plastic cups of Genesee Cream Ale for 50¢ - so a-buck-a-beer - 200% - tip was rare.

ADDENDUM - Ah, shit. Just realized I brought up the 3rd Rail of beer forums - t*pping. :astonished:
My apologies and hope no one picks up on it.

    Oh goodie! A gripe thread.
    1. I dislike it when there are children and pets inside a brewery taproom. Outside on the patio is fine.
    2. Stop using skulls as artwork. It's worn out and unoriginal now.
    3. American Pilsner. It's a sub-style, but where the feck is it?
    4. I haven't had one craft American-made Mexican Lager that tastes like an authentic Mexican-made Lager. Not one. IMHO these are nothing more than the Jones' bandwagon attempts. They blow. Knock it off brewers. Leave those to the Mex brewers.
    5. Good luck getting a full 16 oz pour when you order a pint. Vhat da fork happened? I've been served shy pints and have sent 'em back asking that it please be fully filled so that I'm getting the 16 ozs that I'm paying for. I'm a good tipper if you're a good barkeep.
**Drinkers tip: Look at other pints being served. If the pours are shitty, go with bottles/cans. Pints are pricey!
    6. Please serve Kolsch beers in a Kolsch glass and not a clunky shaker pint glass or whatever. Do it right.

Now, that wasn't so bad was it?
