I just got the most insane box of dark goodness in the mail today. I can honestly say I love every single bottle in this box.

I'm not sure of the BA's username on here and there was no "from" on the box. However I think I found a re-used packing envelope in the box that may have tipped me off to the sender's name. Thank you again, just a killer box, I can't thank you enough.

That would be I. I realized that I forgot to put on the return name while at the post office. They didn't seem to mind so I left it! You got a mix of new and various vintages. I haven't tried the Badlands wild turkey or wilet yet, but last year they were quite good.

 

If I can ask, where in the world did you find the Cuvee Delphine? The last vintage that I was able to find (2008) was a decade+ ago and out of Calgary.

 

We have a belgian importer that allows us to purchase direct (by the case), i think that was purchased a year or two ago. Due to finances I just passed up the opportunity to purchase their imports this year

Shoutout to whoever my sender is, I received notification that the label was just created today. I'll reference the rules here (see quote)-- you're 13 days past the shipping deadline. I get it, life can sometimes happen, but you should communicate if nothing else. Sucks to be on the receiving end and be blindly waiting and be subjected to "your timeline." It suggests if you can't make the deadline that you shouldn't participate.

Good chance that I'm done after this round. Sorry to be a downer but if nobody says anything it'll just keep happening (it probably will anyway). There should be penalties for being 2 weeks past the ship date, or else there's no point in having rules.

 

I'm the late sender here, and this is probably my last CANBIF. In general, I'm not at all into the posting of glory shots, the comments about people's haul's - that has no appeal to me.

Any, like I said in my email to you, if I mailed on time, your beer would be in transport during 35C weather. It makes no sense to send beer that will be cooked in transit, and arrive on time but cooked and oxidized.

Anyone with modest math skills can draw a line to 4 or 5 people because the numbers of participants per round isn't increasing. The main reason I hear at beer shares in Toronto about why past participants don't bother any more, "those forum rules... plus I can trade directly with other people without that B.S." I think for those same reasons, I'm out.

 

A solid (albeit late) box landed today-- thanks @darcyk ! I fully understand not being into the posting & hints, etc., but that's part of the gig. As I mentioned, being late isn't inexcusable, it's the lack of communication of this that bugged me, which in part is @Electros fault as well, since he's the mediator. Setting expectations is the important thing. It'll be sad to lose another CanBIF'r, but I'm in the same boat of potentially calling it...

I was most surprised to see the Norseman-- I've had this beer a few times and didn't think I'd ever see a bottle of it again (the brewery is closed and this beer was released in 2014). It'll be fun to revisit it again!

 

That's quite a haul! Van De Keizer is in my top 5 of all times

 

Bit unfortunate, hope you stay in though. The minimal posts encourage engagement and commuity to keep people around and hopefully attract others. The mystery is enjoyable for myself at least.
