Yeah, it's great! It's similar to a German pils, although a little more floral and hoppy, yet soft. I was just reading the "Modern Lager Beer", so it's fitting that both of the writers are brewers at Jack's Abbey.

On a different note - Brothership's TDH Cowboys vs Aliens is awesome. Grab it if you see it! Although it was released in late March. I'm going to be looking for more of their Hazy offerings, but I'll also have to trade for a BA Space Debris, haven't had one yet.

Art History has their west coast IPA -Avenue of Giants on cask now- definitely worth trying if you’re in the area. (Pictured with Bauhaus Pils)

I was told their English IPA - Trent Bridge will be on this weekend.

I discovered a new (to me) Chicago brewery today. Brutalist Brewing Cooperative. They are operating out of Pilot Project:
    https://www.brutalistbrewing.info/

Looks like only two beers at the moment; an American lager and and IPA. The lager is a passable lawnmower beer but I can't say I'm pumped to try more based on it.

I submitted them as a "place" here on Beer Advocate, let's see if they pass muster.

The hazy IPA is about as boring and undesirable as you can get for the style.

Seems based on a recent label for Bauhaus, Half Acre is doing some contract brewing for Art History Brewing? Thought it was interesting anyway and had not seen anything on it.

Interesting. I also posted in another thread, that Pipeworks was listed as a brewer for a Stupid Good IPA made by Drastic Measures out of Minnesota. So maybe some of the larger Chicago breweries are selling their excess capacity to the regional/local guys that need it?

In other news, I've recently discovered that Imperial Oak Brewing makes some fantastic BA stouts. I've had other stuff from them that was OK, but I was very impressed with The Quiet Giant BA series. You can grab two packs at their locations.

And their brew deck expansion is courtesy of Modelo (Constellation). Interesting times it seems.

Yep, IO has some great under the radar BA stouts. Definitely worth a trip to check out their brews (both locations are great).

Btw the Brookfield location is a 5 minute walk to Galloping Ghost arcade:grin:

Picked up their Terp Trail West Coast IPA and thought it was pretty good.

One of the breweries that consistently flies under the radar in Chicagoland. When we lived closer it was one of our favorites and yet rarely busy except for big events

This is probably not the right thread, but I wasn’t sure where else to shout out Riggs down in Urbana.

I had the Schwarzbier this winter, and it was excellent. Their hefe is definitely up there. Just had my second helles, and man it was good. The red lager I liked, but I think I need another one to have more of an opinion. My only complaint is I’m not down there enough to grab more of their seasonals.

I had their Schwarz recently and it was legit. But haven't seen any of their other stuff in Chicagoland. Would be curious how their lagers stack up against our powerhouses.

I've been so curious to try Riggs out...I believe they're owned and operated by the same people that run Mammoth Malt.

since we are shouting out breweries that are out there, s/o to the fine people at Emancipation. I’ve only had a handful of beers, but they’re damn good.

Was at Flapjack Brewing in Berwyn and had their Imperial pastry stout called Paul's Favorite Soup. Nice 12% abv with notes of chocolate and coconut. Pretty good.

Flapjacks has always been hit and miss with me, but they've has been brewing up some pretty solid brews this year.
