I hadn't seen this on the board, but I figure it's big(ish) news that Tod Mott is retiring from brewing and his son Woody is taking over. I wonder what they'll have on tap that's vintage or new for the occasion. It's giving me incentive to trek it up to Kittery that day.
Yeah. . I saw the Facebook post a few days ago talking about "the passing of the torch". ... had been wondering how long Tod would hold the reins, as he's 66-67 years young... good for him, as he's definitely left a lasting legacy in the New England beer scene. Prost!
I'm wondering how retired he'll be. He's turning the day to day operations of Tributary over to Woody, but I can't imagine he'll just sit on his couch watching TV all the time. I'm sure he'll keep a bit of a hand in there as long as he's physically able, and I'm sure he'll be around the brewery plenty. But Tributary and the Mott reputation is in good hands with Woody - I've talked with him a bunch at the brewery, especially the MtL releases, and he's got the same passion for brewing that Tod does.
All I want to do is be there. But I’m not sure why they chose the Saturday of the air show? I live by the airport so I’m stuck. And the traffic going north will be hell from Hampton on. Plus my entire family over to watch it from our street and my little one, which we close for an epic block party. But goddamnit why that weekend Todd! It’s hell around Portsmouth! I shal swing by tomorrow and inquire and enjoy a beer! These were earlier today for reference https://streamable.com/clvalk?src=player-page-share https://jumpshare.com/s/0u8KcyPuGw2qD2LT2toM
Fuck that, Mott the perfect We’ve had a great, we’ve have a lesser. I think losing Kate truly sparked an inward look and search. He’s choosing to spend his last days devoted to his Galen and his happiness. PS: I’ve always respected your posts/content. So hope you know my reply is all in good fun and kidding around
Of course! Didn't take it that way at all. Mott the Perfect works for me...although I'd take a Kate the Great for old times sake.
I’ve said for years he needed to do old school port soaked spirals and stop with the multi barrel blending. Would be great if we had an OG recipe batch.
100% agree. Kate was such a different beer. And I hate to say it, but it had more body and a better mouthfeel. Mott can run a little thin for my liking. Kate was such an incredible beer and time.
