Happy days to all our BA friends! There seems to be a sudden shortage of new IPAs as the Oktoberfest mania takes hold. And I like nothing better than a good Festbier! But here is one IPA I found in the back of the fridge-- 5th Anniversary from Sig Brewing in Tacoma.

Aroma of mango and orange peel. Tastes of tangerine peel with orange and honeydew. Sudsy and spritzy but rather sharp and acidic after some sipping but a lovely flavor. Quite bitter in the aftertaste. The flavors are so nice but it suffers from the usual problems (to my over-used palate anyway) of over-hopping and over-bittering. Worth trying however, for the hop enthusiast.

Good day BAs! Thanks @mactrail for opening the bar! Kind of reminds me of the days sitting on the steps of the Rod and Gun Club, waiting for Frank or Lundie to open the bar.

Well,it's a chilly 43 F (6.1 C) here in NW PA - guess I'll pick my Gong Bao peppers later today, assuming I don't get attacked by migrating bipolar bears. Today's New Breakfast Beer:

We're at the end of a chain of beer distributors, so what they can't sell at the beginning eventually ends up here, hence three year old Deschutes four-packs. With IPAs, I wouldn't buy them, but Deschutes Impy Stouts might still be good. Indeed, the base "The Abyss" was excellent! However, the Coconut variety didn't hold up - the coconut has passed on to the big flavor bog in the sky. Maybe if this had been refrigerated for the last three years, the coconut wouldn't have fled.

The Abyss - Coconut from Deschutes Brewery. Four pack of 12 fl oz bottles picked up at Franklin Beer, Franklin, PA, 28/08/25 - $ 19.50 (including tax)/$ 0.41/fl oz. Reviewed 09/09/25, review 3582. Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
Final impression and summation: 4 Uncredited label artist. The initial nose is coconut, but this fades away as the glass warms. No coconut occurs in the flavor, beat into submission by the barrel and ethanol levels. Not a bad beer, just don’t expect any coconut – seek out a fresher vintage in hopes that the coconut hasn’t faded into oblivion.

Dudes & dudettes! Happy Tues to you. I'm here faced with the task of cleaning and sorting my drum room. FFS. I thought I sold a load of stuff?! I can barely walk in there. It may be morning but a beer will aid in guiding me to a logical process of how to even start. Kinda like: I have to start thinking about starting to think about it. :joy::nerd:
Sierra Nevada Pils packaged 8/19/25 in their 25cl kooky Kolsch kan that makes everything else look big. It's a tasty brew. Cheers!

Really enjoying these lighter beers lately. So much flavor and I can drink a few without worrying about getting hammered. Schilling in Littleton, NH is killing it with lagers and Belgian ales.

Here's some fun water: Modist Last of the Best Strata DDH Pilsner. Poured gently into a rare 1930's Hazel-Atlas jar from my late mom's collection. It cleaned up nicely! I'll use a Pils glass next time. Making headway in the drum room...Cheers!
