Looks open to me -- and there's a Dark Mild available, although it's unclear whether it's cask conditioned. https://ye-olde-cheshire-cheese.co.uk/drinks/
I'd have to look at the list again, but The Queen's Arms sounds familiar and I think I already have it on my 'walk to' list. The Leinster Arms doesn't sound familiar, but if it's not yet on my list it will be shortly. Thanks for the tips.
@PapaGoose03 , I brought up the likelihood that the above is unlikely, but just want to add that that shouldn't take The Salisbury off your list if you're in the area. It's quite a cool pub. Don't forget that you can order half pints at any pub if you want to try multiple beers/pubs.
Concur, while I have had a few PAs and IPAs that were good via cask, the categories you mention are particularly well suited.
I still have The Salisbury on my list, but the list is too long to be able to stop at all of them in the 3 days that we'll be in London. I hadn't thought about half pints as an option, so that's good to know and could cause us to go deeper into our list of pubs as we view the sights. So thanks for pointing that out.
Sure, if you want to risk scorn from the regulars. (I did, and faced them down with beer geek logic. )
Yeah, when my oldest friend (since I was 4 years old) and I toured UK pubs in the mid-80s we ran into that situation sometimes, too. But we quickly noticed that we were ordering our 3rd or 4th half pint in a multitap free house and the regulars were still on the same Nonic pint they had in their hands when we walked in. Similarly, when we'd ask about buying nips of the barley wines or Imperial stouts available from the brewers' whose tied house we were in, we often got eye-rolls and "Only little old ladies drink those beers..." "Uh, OK... and us, too." Forget which beers of that sort we came home with* (well, one was Courage Imperial Russian Stout) but I do remember striking out in our search for Bass No. 1. (*Ain't that always the way...)
Yep. "Beer geek logic." They couldn't understand why I wanted to taste different beers and ignored me when I pointed out I was drinking as many pints as they were (or more, as you say).
Thanks again for the tip. After arriving in London overnight a 6-hour bus tour was the first thing that we did. After we got back from that a short walk was perfect for the energy level that we had left. Leinster Arms was my favorite of the three pubs during our two and a half days in London. And they had Landlord available, so mission accomplished.
