I was in wild east taproom not long ago and I asked the main beer server what’s the deal with the upstate spot. He seemed to think it’s still a thing but just in progress with delays.

    - Union Street Brewing opening a satellite taproom in Kingston, going down by the water near Brunette and Savonas. That'll be a great addition to the area.

    - Gem Creek Brewing opening in Canandaigua in the old wakeboard shop in front of Roseland Water park.

    - Missed this but Willow Rock in Syracuse opened a second spot in Cicero in June, taking over for where Hothouse was. That's a win because that was a really cool spot.

Are these locations considered the mid Atlantic?

New York is part of the mid-Atlantic in these forums.

Well, being that we learn in like fourth grade that New York is a mid-Atlantic state (versus New England and under the larger umbrella of 'Northeast') I'd say they pretty unequivocally are. Any other questions?

Anyhow, some news for those of you (everyone else in the thread besides that guy, it seems) who understand geography:

    - Blue Duck in Kingston opened last weekend. Not sure on hours going forward but will be checking it out for sure within the next couple weeks.

    - Eckhart in Brooklyn opening tomorrow.

Kingston shaping up to be a nice destination. I’ve never been but it’s on the list. With west kill supply and this blue duck place in seeing pop up on my insta. Not far from Suarez and other destinations as well. Edit: if I had read all the posts before replying - you mentioned blue duck also. Gonna try to hit Eckhart this weekend I’ll report back. It’s very close to KCBC.

The official US regions from the US Census Bureau:

It's MD, DE, VA and DC that are in the "wrong" region but, of course, this website is under no obligation to follow the Census Bureau.

I mean were it on me I'd lump NY with New England or the purpose of this website and I'm a masshole born and raised, but so it goes.

… and then everyone got used to it in about a day and a half.

But that was an idea that was ahead of its time.
Now that we’ve got Tree House in NY, maybe it’s time to combine once again.

Yeah, Delaware is considered Mid Atlantic but it's complicated.

The Mid-Atlantic is a region of the United States located in the eastern part of the country. Traditional definitions include seven U.S. states: New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, and the national capital of Washington, D.C.[3]

Depending on various factors, different regional divisions exist however: the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics in its newest regional division excludes New York from the region;[4] the U.S. Census Bureau excludes Delaware, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia from the region;[5] USGS defines the region by watersheds thus additionally including North Carolina;[6] the EPA excludes both New York and New Jersey;[7] the U.S. Maritime Administration excludes upper New Jersey and New York;[8] the Office of Small Business Programs of the U.S. Department of Defense excludes New York.[9] When discussing climate, Connecticut is sometimes included, since its climate is closer to the Mid-Atlantic than the rest of the New England region.

The argument was that a good core group of camaraderie had developed and might be lost. I thought, wrongly, that the group would still cross lines. Sad actually.

Hit up eckhart and got the Czech pale and dark. Nice lukr pours in a mug. Both beers were really good. Their Czech pale had a kiss of darker malt and some sturdy hoppiness. That’s a beer I’d be happy to drink a’many mugs’a. The venue is nice and big. Their food menu looks tasty also. I had the house made potato chips fried in beef tallow with some really awesome dip they served em with.

Checked out Blue Duck, place is terrific. Beautiful taproom, tons of seating both indoors and outdoors, and the two beers I had (a NEIPA and a lager) were both really good. That’ll be a regular stop any time I’m in Kingston for sure.

Maybe we could make things interesting by moving Long Island into the New England forum? Out here I'm closer to Bridgeport and New Haven than NYC.

Gem Creek opened up this weekend. Went there today with the wife. Nice spot, had 4 different beers between the 2 of us. We enjoyed the stout, the DIPA and the pale ale. Pilsner was ok. Typical service glitches of any place on opening weekend, but very friendly. We will definitely return

Noble Experiment in West Nyack is still probably a month or so away from producing any proprietary beers but they have announced a pop up with guest taps at the location for tomorrow.
