Hey there folks, I checked out the Visiting Seattle in 2024 thread and didn't notice any for this year. I'm wondering if any of the recommendations still hold or if there's new spots that should be tried. Also wouldn't mind any recs for food spots (yes, I know about Dick's). I'll be flying up to the city at the end of the month for work and will be staying downtown, not too far from the Seattle Art Museum. I won't have a car and plan to take public transit as much as possible, or rideshare if it gets bad.
The new-ish Light Rail is your friend: https://www.soundtransit.org/ . You can take it from the airport to downtown (although, it is a bit of schlep from the terminal to the station). You can get up to the U-District, and explore out fro there. It's cheap, and runs late. I'll defer to the Seattle folks, but I think the 2024 thread mostly holds true.
Heading to Seattle a week from tomorrow from Pittsburgh. Anything going on right now that I shouldn't miss? Also, best place to find Pliny bottles in and around the city? I have a car, so no restrictions on distance in and around the city. Also, if there's a new restaurant or something that I shouldn't miss, fire away. We went to Vonn's last year which was good, and to RockCreek in Fremont, which I was less impressed with - like it was fine, not shitting on it, but not chomping at the bit to go back. I do plan on hitting Dino's Tomato Pie unless someone swears there's a better pizza spot that I must try (and then I'll prob go to both).
Former Pittsburgher here. For an awesome sandwich check out Un Bien in Ballard. It's near tons of brewries along with Chuck's Hop Shop. You could get a sandwich and hit a brewery/Chuck's. Un Bien rules. As a pizza fanatic, I wish I had a good pizza rec for you. Haven't lived in Seattle for nearly ten years so there's a lot I haven't tried. Been wanting to try Dino's for a while. Hope you enjoy your visit.
Hi, I will be in Seattle next week and I have limited time. Which Holy Mountain sites do you suggest to visit? Interbay or Phinney Ridge? Which is the best one for take away bottles (especially Imp Stout/Barley wine)?
Neither, tbh. There's no to go bottles on site (stout and bw wise, at least while I was there). They go pretty fast. I think only Interbay has on site bottles for consumption. When I went to Phinney a month ago, they basically sent me to Interbay since we were looking to consume a few bottles. Was able to snatch the last DB Sin Nanna on site, but they have a fridge there if you're looking to share a bottle or two.
Sorry I missed this a month ago - I prob would have seen if you wanted to grab a beer while I was out there! Un Bien sounds great - I just looked at their menu now. We ended up getting to-go sandwiches @ Salumi, which we were quite pleased with. Would def go back, but I did add Un Bien to my Seattle notes for next year, so thank you very much. We ended up having dinner at Asadero in Ballard, which was pretty awesome. Would def go again. Also had breakfast at the Hangar Cafe in Georgetown after picking up a friend at the airport - was also quite good. Had lunch at the food truck at Fremont Brewing on Wednesday too - excellent smash burger. Really, no complaints with any of our food options.
Thanks. Very useful info. Is there a bottleshop where Could I find some of their imp stour or barley wine take away? For Freemont is it the same?
I'll defer to the rest of the crowd on any kind of to-go bottles re: Holy Mountain - i think 'no' is the answer, but I'm less sure on this. Fremont had a few to-go bottles when I was there, including the most recent Anniversary beer - i picked one of these up myself. I also know that there were SEVERAL to-go options for Fremont bottles at Teku Tavern near the Needle, as well as other options (there was plenty of Pliny the Elder at Teku when I was there as well, if that interests you). I also recommend checking out Bottleworks in Fremont if you're looking for any kind of to-go bottle options - they have some decent stuff, and I their inventory is online: Bottleworks - Bottleworks Seattle
We’ll be in Seattle next week staying in the First Hill area. Looking for a bottle shop in the area or is Bottleworks the closest? I’ll be hitting 2-4 breweries in the area in the 2 days we’re there. I don’t need a 4pk of fresh hops to take back home. I like to bring individual cans of fresh hops back.
I think Teku Tavern would work for you - it's a little closer than Bottleworks, but neither are far. 7 mins by car vs. 12 mins.
Hi, all. I'll be in Seattle a week from Tuesday with a little time that night to explore. Staying downtown at The Renaissance. What's the one or two breweries and/or beer bars that are must visit and easily accessible? Thanks in advance!
Reuben's downtown is the closest. A relatively short walk up the hill gets you in Cap Hill, with lots of options with (in my opinion) Stoup and Pine Box being standouts.
Heading to Fremont in a bit, but going to Urban Family first. Then to Holy Mountain Seattle later this afternoon. Question on Fremont. I’ve had plenty of Lush and other Fremont beers in CA including Fresh hop Cowchie. I’ve never had Fresh Hop Lush. I’m thinking of taking Cowchie back or FH Lush?
Haven't ever had fh lush, so take my observation with a grain of salt. Cowiche Canyon is a contender for best fh beer every year. If given a choice, I can't imagine not choosing CC. The fact a keg of CC was our wedding reception beer when I got married back in 2016 has no bearing whatsoever on my recommendation.
