Email just in showing BT party favor from 2023. Sold out when I clicked.

I think there have been times where they didn’t release right away but they were still part of the BT fanfare. In other words they didn’t ship until November but they were still marketed at the same time as the BT release in October. I would bet good money there is no variant box release this year.

This year’s BT is absolutely delightful.

I was excited to see the BT Amburana in the email and kept checking to see when it would be added. I finally realized it is only part of a $170 mixed set with 4 other bottles. Boo.

I opened a Blueberry Brueonico tonight. This was smooth and so well balanced. I wish I had bought another bottle.

Plus that pack was on sale at start of the month. Email made it sound like just added.

I mean I appreciate them bundling limited items to move other stuff. I wish they didn't, but I get it.

A brief experiment in shipping prices to Chicagoland via UPS: up to 24 of the 375ml bottles get shipped for mostly linearly increasing prices. Adding a 25th more than doubles the shipping price from $60 to $127.

There is some weight-based calculation also happening: 23 of the 375ml bottles and one 750ml bottle jumps up to the higher price, but 22 and 1 stays at the lower price. Similar results for a 4-pack.

There were no other notable price jumps at 12 or 16 bottles as had happened before. I tested all the way to a single 375ml bottle.

Anyone have thoughts on "The Pact"? I'm a fan of Henna from More brewing so I'm tempted to snag a bottle.

Opened one tonight. It's great, though a bit steep priced the same as BT.

I don't know anything about More Brewing. Never had Henna. But I think this is maybe the first non-adjunct Monster release if memory serves? I recall them saying Monster was specifically made for adjuncting...

Anyway, The Pact is mostly dry (by big beer standards), though not overly roasty. Nice rich mouthfeel, but not full on motor oil thick. Very flavorful malt. Bourbon is nice but soft.

Overall it's super smooth. Boozy but really mellow. Long finish is pretty great.

Thanks! I've got a bottle coming so I'm looking forward to it.

Still catching up on a couple of older ones:

Coffee is Life - Look, I'm not a big coffee guy, but I can often get behind a coffee stout. Barleywines though? I often find that the flavors clash. This was better that expected though, with a coffee character that was prominent but not overpowering. I would definitely rather be drinking the non-coffee version of the same beer, but this is alright.

Toasted Delight - Pretty standard Bruery coconut stout with a bit of extra caramel character, quite nice if you're in the mood for a coconut stout. Definitely better than Thrill Rider, and probably a bit better than Three's Cocompany. Bruery has really leaned hard on coconut the last few years.

Hard agree, it was great (as per usual), I almost wanted to grab another bottle and pretend like I was taking down a 750 like in the days of yore. Fortunately for my liver, I didn't do that.

Also of note, my order of 9 bottles (6 bt, that 3 pack of grand reserves) came in a smaller box that was meant for 12 bottles (as opposed to my previous order, which was in a box meant for 24). This was free shipping though, so I didn't see what the smaller size did to the price...

I've always been curious what a straight up barrel aged Monster would be like, so I guess this is my chance (or as close as I'll get - never had Henna either, but I guess we'll see). Looking forward to it.

    BT Blender's Choice is... interesting.

I am not into it at all. But perhaps it's just challenging. Very curious to hear others' takes.

Grape forward, but then the rye/bourbon really clashes. It ends up with a vibe similar to the Madeira BT actually. Hard to explain. Or maybe they used a more oxidized port barrel?

Setting aside the barrel profile, it's super mellow in terms of heat, and really great thicker body for BT. So I'd say there's a lot to like in the precision, and the artistic side of the blend is up for interpretation.

Anyone here excited for the BT party on Saturday?! I'm bummed I can't stay the whole night, so going to try and get through things quick. I kinda miss the old days when we would get teasers of what was going to be on tap. The only thing I've seen is the post from Westward that they are going to be there. I appreciate that during the Anni party, Westward was more streamlined with the pours. I didn't have to sit through a long presentation to get a 0.25 oz pour. Anyone see any other details? Please share!

I hate to say it but this Cherry Grateful is not very good. Usually when I don’t like Bruery stuff it is because it is a particular style or includes adjuncts I don’t care for. Fair enough. But this tastes like a Brown Ale that wasn’t coming out great and someone just threw a bunch of adjuncts in to see if that would help.

Promising concept, disappointing execution. Fortunately doesn’t happen for them too often.

Levud's (2015) generally holding up well at ten years.

Lots of vanilla, some pepper, nice sweetness... There's a bit of yeasty bitterness on the finish I don't love which I don't recall from past bottles.

This description is spot on. There's nothing "bad" per se, but the base barleywine is totally bland. The cherry and cocoa are actually pretty well done in terms of being flavorful without being weird or overwhelming... the adjuncts can't carry the beer. No one cares about great ketchup if the fries suck.
