Having a Bell’s Oktoberfest while I cook down some Gumbo on this fine fall day.

 

Happy Wednesday BAs! Today is also World Octopus Day, in case you didn't already know that. I'm celebrating this important holiday with some Alien Master Mind from the Flying Monkeys: it's a tasty double IPA with mango purée. At 10.3%, looks like a nap might be in order later. Cheers!

ps-I am a huge fan of Gumbo, but the multiple times I had in New Orleans, practically everywhere, I was dissapointed. Fortunately for me there is a Cajun restaurant close to me, run by Vietnamese, that make a killer gumbo called “Death by Gumbo” and it is literally to die for!

They had Cantillon Geuze 187ml for 4 bucks. Foufoune was 20€ , Ashanti was 16€, RDG , Iris , Kriek were around 13-15€
Place was fairly priced they just had a fuckload of beer.
Westy 12 was his biggest seller but he did put me on to some decent Lambic

 

Berkshire Brewing Turkey Trotter. Anyone else noticing that postimages takes a lot longer now to upload images since they updated their site with the paid options for using it?

I just timed it - it took 41 seconds to upload to postimages and 12 seconds to upload the same image to Freeimages. I think they're slowing down uploads on purpose to get you to buy a paid subscription.

1) Surly Oktoberfest (6.0%): A Festbier from Minnesota with flavors of lemon, orange, sweet honey and bread Munich malts. Light floral notes.
versus
2) Insight Schickemode (5.8%): A Festbier from Minnesota with flavors of pale Munich malt, honey, graham cracker, and toasted notes. (Correctly matched the two blind)

Minnesota Festbier Battle. First is Surly. Excellent Oktoberfest with some light floral notes.
Next is Insight. Hard to spell. Similar but slightly more toasty honey graham cracker flavor. Really enjoying the flavors and impressed on this one.
Winner: Insight Schickemode
