The Test Brewery - Williamsburg

To stay optimistic, one of the guys in their management also just opened up a wine bar called Babysips, and I see their IG has a post saying from 1 week ago saying they'll be closed due that week's Friday-Sunday for a family emergency. If those were the same days Test was closed, maybe it's for the same reason.

But definitely weird there's no mention on their IG, Google does say temporarily closed, and can't be surprised at any NYC bar/restaurant/brewery closing. Though for NYC it'd be among the most surprising given how their reputation seems to be soaring, though I guess hype only pays so many bills.

One should hope it is only temporary. They filled that gap in Williamsburg where Spuyten Duyvil used to be.

 

Heard through the grapevine it is temporary. Building had issues with code compliance or something of the sort.

 

Almost 3 weeks and no word from Test. That’s unfortunate, hope it isn’t serious. Will be in NYC this weekend and had hoped to return to Test. Last visit, their hazy IPAs were great.
If they’re still closed, do they distro?

 

There's been kegs here or there, but Harlem Hops should still have some cans.

 

Maybe this explains why we’ve had regular shipments of TEST in Europe over the past month. It’s pricey, but in almost all craft beer shops now. If I pass by a can, I’ll give them a shot

 

Most recent post by them says they’re making some updates, whatever that means.

 

3 months no releases and still closed.

Can't imagine they come back at this point.

 

Crazy that this happened, but I guess we will see. New York fortunately has a lot of great options, so this isn't as big of a loss as it would be in a different city, but still is ominous.

 

I did see that they had some kegs tapped at Root + Branch a week or so ago. Surely those kegs weren't many months old (i.e., they might still be brewing?).

 

They just put up a post on IG the other day, said "still working diligently to re-open and we plan to have good news soon."

 

they seem to be involved in a string of collabs recently, e.g. w/ the Seed, and I just saw a forthcoming one with Twin Elephant, so maybe a bit nomadic at the moment. I've definitely seen at least 3-4 in the last month or less.

where are these guys?320 Metropolitan and only weekends? also cans/bottles of collabs?

 

302 not 320, but it's just a few blocks from the Bedford L. Pretty sure they're back open Wednesday through Sunday. Can remember if they've done any bottles but when they've been operational they pump out the can releases pretty regularly.

 

Instagram they'll post, normally weekends, normally last the night and into next day, troon collaboration an exception. Lagers also last weeks. Close to L'Industrie pizza which is a popular food to bring in. Lighter bodied double and triple NEIPAs are their most popular, think Root and branch (which are also skewed towards NZ hops compared to some other brewers).
