Our friend @Resistance88 sent me this. It is truly world class, IMHO.

Pours a rich mahogany brown and settles onyx black in the glass with a creamy tan colored head that coats the glass with big patches of lacing. Gorgeous smoked porter.

The nose is heavily canted to the smoked malts, and there’s also loads of roasty coffee and a nice bit of chocolate that all translates to the taste, with a rich, creamy mouthfeel. Wow.

This is a world class porter, especially if you enjoy a smoky, roasty porter that is WAAAAAY too drinkable.

Remedy Blanton's BBA Cherry Imperial Porter, 9.8% ABV. Pours black with a ring of light-brown bubbles that left no lacing. Aroma is malt, cherry, and bourbon. Taste is cherry and bourbon, faintly sweet, slightly tart, moderately bitter. Decent mouthfeel if a bit light on carbonation, overall very good.

I recently picked up this 2019 bomber, dusty on the shelf of a small local store. I had high hopes for this given that it's Blanton's BBA, but the base beer disappointed. The bourbon is the only plus here. We've got beef stew in the crock for supper.

Phase Three Pressed Maple Coffee Porter, clocks in at a sessionable 12%. Great aromas, maple, vanilla and coffee, flavors match precisely. If it wasn't so damned sweet this would be better, IMHO.

Lupulin 'Nilla Porter, 5.25% ABV. Pours thick and black with a 1.5 finger light-brown head that left foamy lacing. Aroma is roasted malt and vanilla. Taste is strong roasted malt and slight vanilla, slightly bitter, faintly sweet. Decent mouthfeel, overall very good.

Weather forecast here looks like it could work out well for the next week to fire up my old school barrel smoker. Grab a couple of briskets, a light mix of veggies. Smoking options are oak, hickory, pecan, apple, cherry, alder (I think that's what the Porter is smoked with), and a couple of cedar planks. The latter being for fish. Also have a few briquettes of cumin/mesquite charcoal. Anyways...I have 3 bottles of ASP remaining with all this in mind.:beers:

Yep, the Porter is brewed with alder smoked malt.

    Cheers!
