I couldn't drink Tree of Fire. I bought it on a whim and immediately regretted it. They just dropped another BA Barleywine with fall spices. Sounds good as far as adjuncts in BW go, but again, the $45 price-tag and 750ml is just too much. No one I know drinks the style so I can't share it.

I hear you Tim, but TH barleywines are pretty stout and I LOVE banana stouts so I had to give it a shot.:beers:

Two Threads from Temporal Artisan Ales in Vancouver (Canada). A Blend of two distinct barleywines. The first was aged a year in Blanton's bourbon barrels then further aged for an additional 3 years in a rye ex-Cognac barrel. The second was aged for 10 months in a Buffalo Trace barrel. 14.45% ABV. Bloody awesome beer. The bourbon comes through, but loads of cognac comes through as well. Toffee, vanilla, dark fruit, and vanilla cupcakes. Boozy for sure. Love it.

NBW cross-post. Tree House Brewing Tree of Life. An American barleywine ale. Please see the label for the enticing description. Courtesy of @TCgenny. This is best barleywine I have ever experienced.

This was from last night and forgot to post. Pretty solid barleywine. I’m sure this comment could be frowned upon (and I don’t necessarily feel this way about imperial stouts) but I really prefer barleywines to be barrel-aged. That said, this was very good for a non barrel-aged barleywine. Cheers!!

This is part of the Big Beer Box that @Todd curated and is more than worthy of your consideration, IMHO.

Pours a dark mahogany brown with a minimal sudsy tan head that evaporates in seconds, which isn’t surprising given the 13.9% ABV. Looks great in my glass.

The nose is led by rich vanilla and oak aromas, and there’s also a significant stone fruit note courtesy of the figs, and there’s also a nice bit of toffee and cinnamon as well. Wow.

The taste is a direct reflection of the nose, with the vanilla, oak, and cinnamon leading and the fig and barrel flavors following, with the latter providing a nice warming note at the back of the palate. Magnificent.

The mouthfeel is very full and coats the palate, verging on creamy. What a wonderful BA barleywine this is.

Drinking this one straight from the can for @Resistance88

I only have a couple left from the case I bought late last year. Really hope they do something similar again this year. The bourbon and cognac are great together in this one. Sweet and easy drinking.

    Tree House: Tree of Life.
You can smell this from across the room. As good as any BA BW on the market and it was $15 for a 2-pack… there’s plenty of breweries that would charge $45 for 12oz of something like this. It’s actually a blend of fresh and barrel aged beers, but the average time spent in barrels is 2 years.

Double Barrel Crystale Evolution from Barreled Souls and Horus. A Crystale aged in Willett Bourbon for a year and then another Willett bourbon for another year. 17.6% ABV. Good stuff, but there are some flavors that don't necessary mingle. It's pretty hot, and the hoppy bitterness seems to conflict with the vanilla, bourbon, and toffee. It's good, but not the best.

Totally agree. The barrel impartation brought heat and balance and left the essence of the base beer in which i got a ton of toffee, fig, and burnt brown sugar. Regret not buying a second pack for science. Rated it 4.4.
    Cheers!
