Porter Appreciation Thread (2025)

I had this excellent porter at Kenosha Brewing to start the day yesterday. Kenosha Port Roast. It’s barrel aged brother sits next to it.
Finished off the night with one I’ve wanted to try for a long time. It was worth the wait!

 

Perrin’s flagship beer and really tasty. Almost sweet.

Radiant is top tier with their stuff. I regularly buy their beer and usually send out in trades
One of the best. Hope to find more on shelves

I'm drinking a 12oz bottle of Schell's Cave aged, barrel aged Baltic porter lager 2025
Tattersall rye whiskey barrels were used for this one. 10% ABV
As far I know nobody has rated or reviewed this one on BA or untappd.
It's a nice beer.
Taste: caramel, chocolate, dark fruit, oak/vanilla, rye and whiskey. Plus maybe marsh mellow and roast.
The mouth feel is medium body, and slightly soft and creamy on the finish.
Nice beer has some complexity, balanced.
I'm not sure if I like it better than it was several years ago. It is different than in the past. You do taste the rye. The whiskey note is mild but there. I have more bottles, I will not put numbers on it till i have few more. But 4.25+/5 for sure

Islands End - Coconut Porter - Heavy Reel

First off, here’s a shoutout to all the veterans out there. It might’ve beer a green lantern beer, had planning worked out better.

The aroma has a ton of booze and coconut. Peppermint paddy is a surprise, as is the lack of roasted malt. The flavor is very mild until it warms considerably. The alcohol is hardly noticeable (aside from the aroma) and it has a thin body. Forgetting about style guidelines, this is an enjoyable beer.

 

Bourbon Barrel Aged Black Maple Porter by Jackie O’s. So good. Cheers.

 

It’s been awhile since I’ve seen this in my area. Tasty but finishing a little sweet.

 

Daisen chocolate porter - pretty good

 

This was from yesterday and forgot to post. This is probably my favorite beer I’ve had in 2025. Cannot say enough about this beer. It’s so smooth, with notes of chocolate and coffee. Nothing flashy. No barrel-aging. Just a well crafted beer. Highly recommended. Cheers!!

 

That beer was poured at our camper, which is HEAVY well water - and decidedly unfiltered. I wouldn’t be surprised if I had the beast from “Alien” growing inside of me.
