i meant to add that i can taste the difference.
Got a professional baker in the house and if fresh whole vanilla beans front different regions are in front of you and you try each one you can def tell.

In a barrel aged beer from SP thats probably a blend of all kinds of other stuff ?
I doubt a tasting note will be " the tahitian vanilla really shines in this beer with 6848848392 threads of 10-583848828 month aged stout! WOW! ", but super tasters do exist .

I’m kinda surprised it had never been alluded to in this thread, but least everyone now can add “alimony payments, maybe?” to their list of reasons as to why SP bottles are expensive.

La Belle Fleur is very tasty.

    That is all.

Love that beer. They can flush the fruited variants down the toilet. That beer snd the Single Farms are the best sour beers they’ve done in recent memory.

You're right...I'm sure you're more educated on the matter than most. That's pretty cool that you have a professional baker in the house. I wouldn't be able to fit into my clothes if I were in your shoes, lol

If the money is going to Karen then I'm ok with that. I met her once and she was super cool and most gracious.

I don't care to know any details about anything, but I do know that Karen may be the kindest person on earth. I hope this works out well for her.

Agreed - love me some Karen. To be fair, Cory is a pretty good guy as well from my interactions with him on quieter days

As for the discussion on the vanilla varieties the stouts definitely taste different from each other. Whether that's from the beans themselves or the way they treated the beers idk

Congo was more chocolatey, Hawaii was more sweet, indonesia was more barrel forward, Grand Cru kinda mellowed everything out together

At least from my tastes. Cool series

I mean, were they worth spending $250 on to try them all? Some
People love vanilla. But it’s kinda overrated imo

Anyone know if candles sold out? It never showed up on the menu yesterday.

I mean that's up to individual taste. Is it worth buying vanilla stouts from 5 different breweries to see how they taste different? Or buying a vertical of vanilla stouts over 5 years?

All I'm saying is that they all tasted distinctly different, had the expected level of high side project quality, and were a fun series to try throughout the week.

You probably already saw but appears to be listed as To-Go now. Don’t remember ever seeing a Candles on that list before.

Damn. Didn’t know Cory and Karen were separating. The beer will now have resentment and single dad anger in it, rather than love. It’s gonna taste like shit.

So for the folks that were there the past couple days, how do all the new bottles shape up?

I’ve heard some (hilariously) conflicting reviews of the rankings of the core four vanilla’s, but how are the Grand Cru and 12 Candles standing up in comparison?

I only had Grand Cru & 12 Candles.

Grand Cru was far more in your face vanilla than Candles.

Reminder @ LC folks to grab your 1pp bottle of D21 before the sale ends tomorrow, 9am CT

Kinda hoping they may put the remaining bottles up for no-limit sale to LC like they did with D20. Or at least some kind of opportunity (for us schmucks who couldn't make it to the LC parties this year) to pick up a second bottle.

Sorry sorry -- Horrible wording on my part. @Heisenbrew is right, D20 was bundled with Tamarindo. It was never sold to LC as an unbundled+unlimited bottle. Nor was it sold to the public, at all.

    The release schedule was:

    - July 15: D20 offered as a solo bottle, 1pp, to LC only. That sale lasted for one week.
    - July 22: Then the following week they offered D20 + Tamarindo package, again to LC only. That was unlimited of course since it was a package.

Yeah apologies for the confusion there, I forgot it was bundled with Tamarindo. I've got Tamarindo comin' outta my ears over here now.
