Tonight I'm drinking Cusquena Golden lager. A bit malty, a bit hopsy. It's good for the price.

 

My youngest nephew is a huge Philadelphia Eagles fan. Philadelphia is the only large American city east of Chicago I visit intentionally. @GreenBayBA , you must stay near Monk’s Cafe, where you will find an endless array of great new to you beers plus the best among old favorites found outside of the borders of Wisconsin.

I have earned this beer after entering eleven new beers into the database. Back to back Revolution beers!

Good morning BAs! It was 38° outside when I got up with a feels like of 23°. Chores done, kitchen cleaned, it’s coffee time - Guinness Foreign Extra:



Good stuff, in the glass I just brought back from Ireland. Today and tomorrow will be unusually cold and windy. Some may say, “stout weather.” Cheers and happy Veterans’ Day y’all!

 

Today, it's cool and overcast, but it's good to be both free and alive--and that's thanks to the excellent work and sacrifices that millions of people have made, the world over, for our freedom. I for one never take that for granted--but it is nice to both honour and celebrate their work, especially today on Remembrance Day, by hoisting a pint in absolute respect. Both cats were more than happy to help me out...

First, it's my eleventh beer from Burlington, Ontario's Nickel Brook Brewing Co.--their 6.2% Small Batch Series: Winter Wizard Magical IPA. I'm not sure just how 'magical' it was, but it most certainly worked for my palate, to be sure. It's shown, poured, bookending articles on the cult classics The Brood (David Cronenberg, 1979); A Bucket of Blood (Roger Corman, 1959); and The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (Robert Wiene, 1920), with no apparent rationale, except I enjoyed all three movies immensely...



Second, it's my eighth from Bracebridge, Ontario's Muskoka Brewery--their 4% Tread Lightly Light Lager...

Finally, it's my fifth brew from Orleans, Ontario's Orleans Brewing Co.--their 5% Moose Drool All Canadian Amber Ale...

All three beers are also pictured bookending articles on the cult classics The Blair Witch Project (Daniel Myrick & Eduardo Sanchez, 1999); The Blob (Irvin S. Yeaworth Jr., 1958); and Blood Feast (Herschell Gordon Lewis, 1963), for no significant reason, although I've seen all three movies and thoroughly enjoyed them...



Tomorrow: Three more beer puzzles for me to decipher, from the following breweries:
--Pabst Brewing Company (San Antonio, Texas; my third of their handiworks);
--Refined Fool Brewing Company (Sarnia, Ontario; my eighth); and
--Sandwich Brewing Company (Windsor, Ontario; my eleventh)...

Question: Although I have only sophisticatedly kept track for the past 18 months (since May 16, 2024--when I decided to take one of my favourite hobbies to the next level), my 1000th different beer will be coming up, probably next Monday, the 17th...and I'm trying to think of a new one I should drink to mark the occasion. Any ideas or suggestions? =)

Happy Veteran's Day, BAs and thanks to all who serve or have served! Since my late Dad and brother were both USNavy vets, I have often wondered how my life would have been different had I entered the Naval Academy when I was young, as I contemplated doing.....ah well.

Happy Veteran's Day to my fellow vets and the families that supported them! Cold for here, 47 feels like 41 with the wind chill. Nothing like the "feels like -15" we had in Salem MA last January. Gonna grill 1 bison burger shortly, the wife has leftovers she wants, Jai Alai.
