Triple Barrel Batch 2000 from Cellarmaker. Triple barrel-aged barleywine. 10 months in Blanton's bourbon, 13 months in Savage and Cooke Lip Service Rye, and 12 months in Eagle Rare Bourbon. 17.4% ABV.

The taste is incredibly intense. Might be one of the most intense beers I had in my life. Wow. Bursting with boozy bourbon, figs, plums, raisins, toffee, molasses, brown sugar, honey, and a hint of maple. Vanilla comes through as well. Dark bread and graham crackers. I'm so impressed by the flavor on this one.

    Brewers notes:

Tree Of Life is an American Barleywine carefully constructed over the course of an arduous, labor intensive day of brewing -- and elevated by patience. After an appropriate primary fermentation, it was cold conditioned for three months in stainless steel and an additional six weeks in the bottle. It’s flavor profile is a function of an authentic assortment of ingredients, featuring pale, chocolate, and caramel malts balanced gently by traditional American bittering hops. It applies years of learned knowledge and understanding pertaining to the characteristics of these malt varieties sourced from around the globe. It is a beautifully cohesive beer that balances sugary dark fruits with a faint hint of earthy hops, and a modestly chewy body; no single attribute overwhelms. Pouring a deep amber color in the glass with a wispy caramel colored head, it’s quite a sight for a beer of this stature and alcohol content! We suggest that you enjoy it over a wide spectrum of temperatures as it will reveal layer upon layer of character and intrigue. We taste and smell brown sugar, dark candi syrup, toffee, molasses, fig, black cherry, raisins, dates and the faintest hint of milk chocolate.

Dark brown liquid with a pencil thin brown foam cap

    Aroma is molasses, bourbon

Tastes are raisins, dark fruits, molasses, fig, toffee, dates, Umami , savory

    Thick syrupy mouthfeel

    Good beer

Late start due the terrific 70° weather, had a chance to spend a couple hrs with the top down, maybe the last time this year.
Dapper BA Barleywine from Bud's Chicago Brewery. I like this.

That looks like a tough glass to drink from, but it is neat.

Candied Walnuts Prodigality from Jackie O's. A barleywine aged in bourbon barrels and conditions on maple syrup, wildflower honey, and walnuts. A whopping 15.6% ABV. Ugly beer, but it tastes great. Another win for Jackie O's.

Any flavor dominant over the others? Or a good mix?

The walnuts really pop on the taste, but it's a really nice balance. It's like a bowl of walnuts drizzled with maple syrup. Great barleywine.

Really tasty. Very rich and bordering on too sweet. Not miles away from barrel aged maple syrup. Super viscous, velvety mouthfeel. Enjoyable but not sure if I’ll go back for a 2nd pour today. Cheers.

Sounds incredible. Can’t imagine what they were charging for it…
Seems like a barleywine I actually would not want to age. A lot going on and I could see it going sideways with how long it was already in barrels

Picked up an Alluvial Badgers Nadgers Barleywine on the way out of town in Ames today after watching the Cyclones beat the Jayhawks. This is a tasty barleywine, bottle #38 of the March 2025 release. Rich and syrupy.

Revolution Straight Jacket 2025 BBA English Barleywine, 15% ABV. Pours blackish brown, with a 1.5 finger beige head that left no lacing. Aroma is caramel, dark fruit, spice, bourbon, football leather (not shoe), and brown sugar. Flavor is caramel, dark fruit, light spice, and vanilla, moderately sweet, slightly bitter, pleasant bourbon burn, leather aftertaste. Excellent mouthfeel, overall outstanding. Goes down way too easy for the ABV,

I think this was $30 at the brewery this summer.
