Though DC is not a state, it is already counted as one on BA. Not sure if it counts towards the karma 50-state achievement.
After having completed multiple style quests, I think I'd rather have a BA challenge coin. I don't feel much like hunting stuff down these days.
How many countries are you up to nowadays? I just hit 85. I'm inching at like 1-2 a year at this point.
Damn, I'm only at 27, but I could probably add 30-40 easy if I hit up more ethnic markets and just powered through all the shitty third world lagers available.
You gotta get Puerto Rico, US Virgin Islands, Guam, and American Samoa as well for the Citizens Pint award. Apologies if I missed a territory.
Yeah for sure....ethnic markets and restaurants are key. Also liquor stores in ethnic neighborhoods. Plus Total Wine (or equivalent) will probably have 30 countries or so. There are also online retailers that have a good global variety. What I love about chasing country ticks is that besides time, the beers themselves are usually cheap Euro Lagers, so it's a wallet friendly hunt
Bad enough I'd be drinking shitty versions of Euro lager, I don't need to be drinking old ones from Total Wine as well.
Unless I created a way store this data and update it as needed (I don't see this happening anytime soon), the page would require an extra query for each beer style (not worth the overhead).
Moving forward at a similar pace. 91 countries with 2 more in hand (at a buddy’s place in NYC) to consume before the end of the year.
I like the idea, encouraging people to get out of their “beer comfort zone” and explore different beer styles is definitely within Beer Advocate ethos and Order of the Poobah I would guess. Perhaps instead of a just 1 Badge after nailing all styles there are levels of badges awarded after 5 styles reviewed, 10 styles etc. Maybe there is already something like that? Not sure.
I’ve been chasing the #1 rated beer from each style. Seems a lot more obtainable than chasing the top 250, and probably more rewarding.
It's hard enough to achieve any beer in each of the styles, let alone the top dog in each. Good luck with that goal.
