That's cool. I'm probably too picky about pizza, even here. Some people say fennel is used at times to cover bad sausage, but I don't believe that's valid.

My two brothers went to ISU in Bloomington/Normal, and loved Micheleo's, but sadly it closed awhile ago. Nice there are still good spots in the area.

Agreed. I'd try the pepperoni you made today. It looked really good. I only tried it once, and it was on a bad pizza, so I would give it a second chance on a good pizza.

That's what we called Pizza Hut as kids. The large chains really only survive in the suburbs around here.

I found one map which led to my post showing Pepperoni is the most popular topping in every state, but this one might be more accurate, at least via google searches from four years ago.

This 12 year old pie chart has Pepperoni besting Sausage nearly 3 to 1 in terms of the meat choices, with mushroom the top vegetable choice, one of the few I don't like.

I'm with you on passing on fish. It's nice you can make your own. I like vegetables for the most part, but sausage is the one meat I do like. In Chicago, people order it "Cheese and Sausage", and always wonder if people everywhere state cheese, or that it is assumed unless you are ordering light or extra cheese and people just state the additional toppings.

There are a few good pizza places beyond Chicago (Amore and Pizza Rock are solid in Vegas), but I'm particular even here. Tony & Lil's was my all time favorite, but sadly they retired decades ago after being in business since the 1950s (also had the best fries). Would also hit Father and Son's on Milwaukee when in the mood for an after midnight pizza. RIP to both.

La Villa is my favorite still in business, Trio's the one I order for delivery at home. That Middle Brow Beer Temple pizza was excellent, and hope we can do that or another spot when you return down the road.

Cheers everyone and thanks for the replies.

Happy Monday all! Fresh hop season ain’t over until the last can is gone—and I still have a few left in the beer fridge. Cheers!

Words can’t quite express the delicate nuance of delicious Bavarian brews consumed with a plate of pretzels and pickled whatever. In this case an egg! Erdinger Helles…. Delicious!

It’s also a great day to break out my half-liter drinking mug. The clarity of this Erdinger 5.1% ABV Helles is so superb, I needed to see it in a beautiful paneled drinking stein!

For an outfit primarily known for Weissbiers, I am duly impressed with this Helles. What a fantastic job – bready – perfectly brewed to style – nice head and lacing, this is truly a fantastic effort. Ship over some more! Prost!

Gnosis Shiftshaper: Peacharine DIPA. This last can has 4.5 months on it and is still drinking mighty fine. Best hoppy beer these guys have released. RAR and others have perfected the "style", but this is the best representation of a "hop saturated ale" we have around here.

T-bone out . Did this in the air fryer for 16 minutes @ 390. Also cut a whole russet potato in 8 wedges first (no pic already consumed ) Steak came out great.

Wow, I had no idea sausage was so unpopular among pizza toppings! I guess growing up in the Chicago area really skews your perspective. For me, it's sausage and onion all day with mushroom and green peppers if I want to expand out. Pep once in a while. I love a good Italian beef and giardiniera pizza too, which is so Chicago.

Willetized in the ubiquitous Lagunitas glass that everyone has and I have no idea where I got mine. The 2023 might be tasting better than new which admittedly had less upfront barrel than previous versions (though it reveals some heat in finish). Cheers.

Went to school at Ball state in Muncie IN. IMHO they had the worst pizza I've ever had in my life. We always went for the Taco Pizza. Then again Indiana had the worst food I've ever had. Def biased because I was born in NY and mainly raised In NJ. John's Pizza in NYC and Luigis on Brooklyn are the two best pizzas I've had. And of course Rudis in Closter NJ. We'd go there with Mom a few time a month.

The last can I brought home from Prague, simply "Ale" by Pivovar Bubeneč. I'm sorry to say it's got some off aromas and is otherwise profoundly meh. I probably won't sip too much more of it.
