For my money the best beer holiday, Thanksgiving, is almost here! What is your lineup for the big day?
Looking for inspiration for our beers that day. Will not fruited lambic went surprisingly well with the starchy foods in years past

I am working until around 4, but I plan on opening a bottle of Tree House Truth I purchased in Saratoga back in June for Thanksgiving evening. Should go well with our expected cold weather!

I've frequently chosen something acidic to cut through the richness of the traditional T-Day turkey dinner with all the trimmings. I've never had a gueuze so I bought a bottle of Tilquin Gueuze for this year's event. I doubt that I'll have anything besides it, but if I get into a BBA Stout from my cellar later in the day, I wouldn't be surprised.

My wife has family in New York (Long Island) and we will be going there for Thanksgiving. My ‘job’ is to bring beer (i.e., my homebrewed beer). I will be bringing a mixed case of homebrewed beer including:

    · Czech Dark Lager

    · English Bitter Ale

    · Belgian Dubbel

    · Milk Stout

    · IPA featuring Ekuanot IPA

    · Robust Porter (my version of Hill Farmstead Everett)

None of the above beers are specifically intended to be paired with the meal but to enjoy throughout the day (e.g., while watching football).

Nate Lanier in a recent video posted some ideas for beer to enjoy with the Thanksgiving meal.

Ironically, he mentioned both a Smoked Beer and Brown Ale as part of his recommendation which I have (a beer I brand as Smoky and Spicy (rye malt) Brown Ale) but it is still in the primary fermenter so not ready to be consumed.

    Cheers!

We typically do wine for the big meal. This year will be a rose, a Cote du Rhone, an Oregon pinot noir and a French pinot noir (red burgundy).

In the past I've had celebration ale, which was a great beer, but really didn't seem to accompany the traditional meal selections all that well.

I may go dry on Thanksgiving this year, but if not I’ll more than likely choose to have a Rogue Dead Guy Ale. Just picked up my final six pack earlier this morning. :slight_frown:

Last Thanksgiving I had a Russian River Shadow of a Doubt Imperial Porter.

Starting things off with a Cantillon, per tradition. From there, I'm looking forward to cracking a Kentucky Turkey Hounds from the Bull & Bush. If we open a 3rd one, it'll probably be something mild'ish and much later in the day.

Always spend Thanksgiving with extended family at my aunt's. Between helping my mom and aunt in the kitchen, the big meal, and the drive home, I don't drink until well after the meal.

I'd say that an American brown, festbier, or biere de garde would be my picks to pair with the meal. Moinette Brune would probably be excellent as well.

Won an Arabesque Reserve in the P3 lottery, will likely be the feature beer. Otherwise, NEIPAs during the rest of the day.

Thinking I have my last Hair of the Dog Adam From The Wood this year after the meal. Man I miss that brewery. Got a couple of festbier and marzen options for watching the mighty pack prior to the meal. During is the trick, but then it hit me... What am I thankful for this year? #SplitUpSaison! So think Rose de Ble by Side Project as a light yet modern contrast

Unpopular opinion probably but I save my room all for food  probably just a beer to close out the night while starting to throw up some lights out front.

Not sure what's the story, but even though they've supposedly closed operations, their beers are still distributed? I looked into this month's ago. Not sure if still the same, but some local places around here seem to have some bottles on their shelves.

As always, we will be hanging out with a bunch of friends at another place, so probably nothing special that night. However, Black Friday Stouts will definitely happen!

Starting with these guys. Abt 12 as a pre- prandial. Last year brought a Staafe Hendricks Quad as my hosts weren't familiar with that type of brew. Figure the Abt 12 is a good follow- up (still not ready to uncork a St. Bernardus Christmas before December.
The Saison and Val Dieu seemed to be good dinner choices.
We're off to relatives in Cleveland so will also bring a supply of local (Pa.) IPAs to while away the hours...

A light pilsner/lager or 2 when grilling the turkey breast/taters/onions/etc., then SN Celebration (or anything else that appeals during the meal), then last years' BCBS or some other BA imperial stout to finish off the evening......if'n we haven't all been in a food-coma hours before...

Not sure yet. Whatever I pick, it'll likely be sub 5% abv. If anyone brewed English Bitters, I'd load up on those, but those are few and far between, unfortunately.

Yep. They aren't brewing any more beer, but the online store is still selling bottles and I think they still have some kegs available. I keep on thinking this can't last much longer, but I'm not sure just how much beer is still left at this point (last time I spoke to Wendy Sprints, it sounded like they still had a fair amount of Adam left).

My wife and I are having dinner with Wendy and her husband this Sunday, so I'll try to get an update then.

Edit from 11/23. Wendy advised that the supply is getting very low, and that she expects them to run out soon. Apparently, Alan has been augmenting the store with his own library supply. Wendy indicated they're currently running a double discount over the holidays, as she's ready for "it to be over." I asked if she thought the current supply might last another year, and she stated flat out "no way." LOL! I got the impression she's tired of me even bringing it up (as I tend to every time I see her and Dan).

    Cheers!

I will be doing a "split" type of Thanksgiving, taking food to my elderly Mom around noon, then driving to visit my girlfriend and her mother about an hour and a half away, and taking food for the later meal....we will have cranberry wine, some mead, and I am sure to take several German festbiers (gf's mom is from Germany!) and other goodies along....
My daughter and son in law will be coming up from Columbus Friday to have a second holiday meal, and we will likely crack another of those Trader Joe's Belgian Vintage ales, some Celebration, and whatever else we feel like popping open! It should be a fun few days of food and drink!
