[IMG]Eviltwin mexican dark lager conditioned on oak
....solid black with a thick long lasting brownish head
...medium light carbonation with a slightly thin body
... aroma is the smell of dry wood followed by roasted malt, malt and toasted dark bread
...taste is very similar to aroma with there being a slight sweetness then dry and finishing surprisingly bitter
...overall it is very good but the feel was a little weak and I actually think the addition of of oak took away from what seemed a very good beer[IMG]

Attempted Murder from Bombastic Brewing (but brewed and canned by Mother Earth Brewing in Idaho). A vanilla cinnamon imperial stout. 10.5% ABV.

Poured at fridge temp. Pours a nice black with minimal head. Not overly thick. The nose is as described. Vanilla, cinnamon, chocolate. A touch of brown sugar comes through.

The taste is really nice. Not getting a ton of cinnamon. Mostly roasted malts, vanilla, a touch of burnt toffee, light coffee note, a little nutty flavor, and baking chocolate.

The mouthfeel is a bit thin. The aftertaste is a bit of roasted malt and vanilla.

Quiet Giant imp stout; imperial Oak brewing

This stout was sent to me by none other than @GreenBayBA who I made a blood pact:
If the Bills / Packers Super Bowl was in any way in doubt,
Break the glass, drink this stout!

Pours dark as night in my Don Mario branded Stout glass, almost black, with a solid 0.25 inch head of thick, dark tan foam and plenty of soapy lacing. Looks the business.
On the nose you get roasted malt, cocoa, milk choccy, a bit of vanilla, raisins, and a touch of coffee.
The flavour follows on nicely — roasted malt and cocoa up front, a hint of coconut that shows itself more as it warms, milk chocolate, vanilla, light coffee and a bit of caramel. A gentle bitterness running through it. Absolutely delicious.
Surprisingly smooth for the big ABV — creamy, full-bodied, and well carbonated, with the flavour hanging around.
A cracking Imperial Stout — well balanced with great aroma and flavour. The cacao really shines, giving heaps of rich cocoa and chocolate character.

Lets see if I can make some sense of this...again tagging @TCgenny for being so ridiculously generous. As he sent me a ton of beers, these three up first from Tree House. Now its no secrete that I'm not a hazie boy to say the least, ha, but I have always at least respected Tree House.

Three of the NEIPA's he sent me...and this will be very short hand as I was sharing this with friends..actually very literally from my short hand notes ha. So, these won't be my usual review format, and take that as a positive or negative, I don't know ha.

    Green
    7.5% ABV
Plenty hazy, pale yellow. Dense white head.
Citrus and melon fruits up front in the nose.
Taste wise is similar, with the citrus and melon flavors. A whiff of bitterness in the finish.
    Full body, chewy, low carbonation.

    Haze
    8.2% ABV
Honestly, I can't really tell that much of a difference between this and Green.
The same pale yellow haze, and white head.
Similar citrus and melon fruit aromas/flavors. Though not enough bitterness for me.
This is a bit more muddled and even a bit under carbonated for my taste.

    Orange is the New Yellow
    8.4% ABV
Similar appearance as the ones above. Hazy pale yellow.
This one pops and stands out a little more. With grape and orange rind, peach. Juicy fleshy peach skins. Not a ton of bitterness, but its there.
A bit more carbonated than the others, and I like it all the more for it.

Orange is the New Yellow is the easy winner for me. I would say Green is better than basically all other NEIPA's that I have had, and Haze is just kind of par for the course for me with the style. No real ratings here, just general observations and impressions.

I have Julius to review for tomorrow, and I specifically saved that for myself. I have only had it once before, and remember being very surprised by my enjoyment of it...even with my hang ups with the style. So, I'll finally get to do a proper review and see if my memory holds up. Also Slow Burn Rauchbier, which is the one I'm most looking forward to...along with a Genesee Cream Ale :sunglasses:

School Night from Westbound Down. Barrel aged imperial stout and barleywine blend. 14.7% ABV. Small can.

Poured at fridge temp. Pours black with an inch of light brown head. The nose is fantastic. Boozy. Roasted malts, dark toffee, prunes.

The taste is where it's at. Molasses, burnt toffee, bourbon, vanilla, roasted malts, charred wood, brown sugar, toffee pudding, cream, prunes, and raisins. Lovely!

Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a nice bourbon aftertaste.

    Tonewood wild sour ale
    ....clear very light peach appearance
...medium champagne like carbonation with about a medium body
..aroma is fermented cherries along with other fruit, has a candy sour like funk as well
...taste is fermented sour cherries, funk and sour with a sweet tart candy element
...really well done but its far from a chug a few in a row type of beer[IMG]

    Good evening all!
Quite the day. Had a couple beers earlier with a coworker while we worked out a coding issue so went with a small one tonight.
    Lunar Lycan.
The pour is nearly black, certainly darker than stout black (beer that pours dark brown and looks black in the glass) and the dark brown head never quite covers the surface. About par for a BA stout.
The taste is almost sweet, but not quite; the inclusion of marzipan and lactose makes one think pastry but I suspect all that sugar is converted to alcohol.
I get the coffee and the lactose but not the marzipan. Which is fine by me. Deep and rich, I certainly could have kept drinking it but it is probably better that it is just under 12 ounces.
The feel, like the flavor, is smooth and soft. The viscosity is high, which helps me from taking large sips.
OA, outstanding, this is one to savor.
Will definitely be back for NBS,
    Cheers!

    Jacks abby tiramisu
...black murky brown appearance with a thin tan head
...close to medium carbonation with an above average body that has a thick creamy feel
...aroma is cream and pastry with espresso and barley malt
...taste is sweet but its dialed back which works nicely. Cream and pastry leads with coffee, malt and barley malt following
...overall its a very good dessert beer thats sweet but stops before coming off sugary. Body has an excellent feel[IMG]

Einstok Toasted ( Baltic ) Porter, 6.0% ABV; 3.89 overall

Pours an effervescent chestnut with 3 fingers of mocha colored head. Pretty good head retention & better lacing

S: Coffee, blueberries, faint smoke & toastiness, fades a bit down the stretch

T: Follows the nose, roasty coffee & dryness lead the charge, some woody notes as well. Roasty, so much coffee, pretty dry, smokiness still there. Finishes roasty, dry, with coffee ins pades & faint Baker's Chocolate notes

MF: Medium body, fairly firm carbonation

Coffee is a bit intense for me, impedes drinkability a bit, plus a minor deduction for style. More Porter than Baltic Porter to me

Here we are, back to back posts:rolling_eyes:

Greenhouse Aleworks Foxtail West Coast IPA, 5.0% ABV with Simcoe, Comet, Chinook & Citra Hops; 4.3 overall

Pours a chill hazed gold with a thumb of ivory colored head. Good head retention & lacing

S: Catty, some citrus & bready notes on the fringe

T: Super catty, a little dry, lime & sage notes up front. Pine, dryness, pomelo & faint melon notes as this beer warms up, more sage as well. Finishes very dank with much dryness, some lime notes & plenty of pine

MF: Medium body, moderate carbonation, good balance

Despite the low malt bill, this delivers the flavor, pretty darn drinkable. This seems like a template for building a West Coast IPA without the heft. Would preferred a little more citrus profile

Ill break up this @russpowell streak of posts! the things I do for BA?!?!
Tonight I have Cvee de Grace 2021 vintage, a cuvee style beer from Revolution Brewing in Chicago. Sent to me by the infamous @FBarber Where is that guy?? The beer is 14.6% ABV according to the date stamp.

    onto my review:

I am sampling a 12 oz can poured into my snifter. Date stamp is 4-02-2021. Beer was sent to me in a package for a trade.
The beer pours a rich chestnut color and sits deeper mahogany to light coffee color. No light passes through my glass.
A creamy beige head of about 0.5 cm. This fades to a sturdy edging and a large island in the center of my glass. I get some scattered lattice when I swirl my glass.
Aroma is rich malty and boozy, which is what I expected from this beer after reading about it.
There is a good bit of fusol note on the aroma with peppery bite too. This mixes with some dark fruit, raisins, plums and some fig. Sort of a sweet fruity note mixing with the stronger booziness. Never any hop character on here.
First sip reveals a medium body with smooth texture and very fine sort of prickly carbonation. But the beer does drink pretty easy.
Flavor follows the nose, but is a little less boozy. I get some toffee and then again, dark fruit, raisins and fig with a healthy dose of wooden barrel that is a little tannic and dry. Finish is where the booze kicks back in with some peppery bite and warming down the gullet on each swallow. Again, hops dont appear to have been used in this beer. I am feeling the ABV about 2/3 through my glass. This has been a tasty adventure, but Im thinking its the only beer for tonight.

Roma! Italian Pilsner from Mighty Squirrel Brewing

Slight aroma of something herbal. Sharp and spritzy on the tongue with a substantial body. There is a flicker of grainy flavor in the first taste. The bitterness, however, takes over the whole show. It is just bitter and unpleasant after that first sip. From the 16 oz can shipped from Half Time. Not dated.

16 oz can from the BA Big Beer Box into a snifter.
L: Pours an opaque yellow gold color with very little carbo, no head or edge foam, lightly gritty sticky residue "lacing" and some light particles on the surface. I did agitate the can lightly prior to pouring.
S: Fruits, pineapple, ginger, mango, lime, a light hint of general fruity sweetness funk.
T: Tart, tangy and lightly sharp tastes of lime, pineapple, mango, ginger. Candy sweet and almost wincingly tart. It has a light and airy subtle rum barrel note that lingers in the finish.
F: Smooth, slick, moderately viscous heavy bodied mouthfeel with a medium long dry finish. It has light grit with the last few sips.
O: A lovely sour with a steady fruity bounce. It has a smooth and placid feel overall and isn't really extreme in any way. It is tropical, not overly sour, and is quite enjoyable. I found it to be excellent in its style.

    Appearance: Dark brown, huge head.

Smell: Rye spiciness mixed with citrus hops.

Taste: Starts right away with rye and moves quickly to fill out the palate with moderate citrus bitterness. Very nice mix of flavors, the rye gives a solid base and the hops are there but keep the rye featured. Medium bodied, finishes with the rye and mild bitterness.

Overall: This is a really good rye IPA, not super hoppy but so tasty. Really lets the rye take the lead. I might have to get another 6 pack of this as the weather gets colder.

Thanks to @Resistance88 for this quad. Cheers.

Poured from 33 cl bottle, the beer color is a completely opaque dark brown with large fluffy white head. Very good lacing.

Aroma is a mix of booze and dark fruit with a light sugary waft.

Taste follows nose as the dark fruit carries the flavor. A light sweetness, oak and clove are in the background but do not approach the dark fruit in intensity flavor. A light bitterness appears but it’s hard to discern if it’s hops or alcohol, regardless the bitterness is deft balancer.

Mouthfeel I wonderfully light and soft. Carbonation is also light. Finish dries up fairly quickly with a light alcohol as it trails off.

An amazing beer to sip and savor. I have trouble imagining a better quad.
