12oz can served in a stemless rastal. Canned 07/30/25. Sent to me some time ago by the esteemed @jonphisher.

Pours black with a small head, moderate active carbonation. Smell is super roasty with a pine resin twist. Coffee and burnt toast. Slight smokiness.

Taste reveals some sweetness -- still dominated by roast. Sweetness has a vague maple and molasses character to it. Lots of pine and grapefruit zest.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied, nice liveliness on the tongue. Nice beer.

350ml can served in a stemless rastal. I can find what appears to be the date 2025.12.15, which I guess would be the "best by" date. Given to me by @shigg85.

Pours hazy light yellow, big foamy head that settles fairly slowly, leaves big pillowy peaks behind. Smell is unripe peach, lemon rind, green grapes. Some lemon zest.

Taste is a little bit on the watery side, has a lot of the hazy vibe without being oppressive. Moderate tropical fruit, lots of pith, a little bit of fluffy orangey vanilla.

Mouthfeel is soft and smooth. Overall, not bad. Probably would have been better when Shawn first gave it to me, but fresh hop season...

Mexican Hot Chocolate Mushhushshu. Dark ale aged in bourbon barrels with vanilla, cinnamon, peppers and chocolate flavors. 13.7% ABV.

Poured at fridge temp. Pours a relatively thin dark brown with a small amount of head. The nose is fantastic. Vanilla, cinnamon, chocolate, and loads of malts, Not really picking up any pepper on the nose.

The taste is super smooth. Cinnamon, bourbon, vanilla, chocolate, and a touch of maple. Incredibly smooth and the ABV is totally hidden. I just wish the pepper was a bit more present.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied and the aftertaste is chocolate and cinnamon.

Foxtown, How Time Flies, 6th Anniversary rye stout aged 2 years in Heaven Hill barrels.. 14.6% ABV Foxtown is in Mequon, WI (north of Milwaukee). I had to go down the steps to the old cellar to retrieve my bottles. it was worth it, nice samples of there barrel aged beers to try.

Taste is chocolate, molasses, a hint of dark fruit and toffee. Then some oak and vanilla
Nothing fancy about it. But it's good. Smooth and on the sweet side. ABV is well hidden.
The mouth fell is good too, coating and not thin.

I bought 2 bottles, maybe I should have bought more

Wow! I ve missed quite a few posts in this thread. PLaying in 2 soccer games and doing a road race reduced my beer drinking so far this weekend. Thanksgiving saw me not use my phone or laptop so no reviews.
tonight Im sharing a beer from Barreled Souls in Saco, Maine. This is You're in the WROOONG Basement IMperial Stout. ABV is 12.3% and the beer was brewed with maple syrup and elements coffee. No barrel treatment here. I got to add this one to the BA DB.

    onto my review:

Im sampling this cellar temp 500 ml bottle and pouring into my stemless tulip. Beer was picked up at the brewery in August and has been in my cellar since purchase.
The beer pours a dark cola brown and rests as a black coffee in my glass. A dense spongey tan head foams up several CMs in the glass and barely crests the lip of the glass , but does not overflow. This foam recedes slowly leaving only scattered lattice on my glass. I do get more lattice on swirls and sips.
Aroma is roasted malts, dark chocolate, a good bit of maple syrup and lightly sweetened coffee. No hint of the ABV on the nose and hop character is absent as well.
First sip reveals a medium body with very fine and tingly carbonation. Texture is pretty smooth for a bigger beer.
Flavor is what the nose advertises and is malt driven. I get some roasted malt and chocolate fudge mixing with maple syrup and definitely some coffee with a bit of sweetener. The maple syrup lingers a bit after each sip. This is definitely on the sweeter side of the spectrum of beers. No hint of the ABV and the hops are absent.
This is pretty much what you should expect from a coffee imperial stout with maple syrup. It is definitely sweet, so if that isnt your thing, this one may be a pass for you. Im enjoying sipping on it while i play some chess.

    4.27 in the BA DB

Big Bark Vienna Lager from Live Oak Brewing in Austin

Lively on the tongue with a smooth mouthfeel. Pleasingly malty with a zingy finish. Some roasted malt and caramel taste with a touch of orange rind. Hops are understated but add some woody flavor and a modest bitter aftertaste. Overall this is one of the better beers I've had in the Vienna category, but then I like the malt flavors here and it's certainly balanced but the right amount of hops.

Been up for some time, so it’s New Beer Sunday #1084 with my final planned Aldi selection. This is the same 4% ABV as the “Light” beer yesterday, without the light moniker, and no calorie information. So I guess they aren’t going for the healthy angle with this one. Also just noticed the Brewers Association “Certified Craft Independent” logo.

11/30/25 - (Can, Home) (Chicago, IL) Can Notes:
Purchased via the Aldi Twelve Days of Beer Fall/Winter 2025 variety twelve pack for $22.14 with tax at the Harwood Heights Aldi on November 7, 2025, and refrigerated until opening this morning. 12 oz canned 9/08/25 (can stamp PKGD 04:090825 1028001628). Mango Wheat, 4.0% ABV. Ale with Mango & Peach Natural Flavors. Brewed by ABW Virginia Beach LLC in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Appearance: Slow poured about 10 oz into a tall tulip glass, yielding a generous bright white bubbly creamy head leaving soapy lacing and sustained cover over the entire lightly unfiltered yellow orange base. Medium sustained carbonation. Locks very nice. 4.25

Aroma: Mango, all mango like the SNL sketch, backed well by peach. 3.75

Taste: Consistent with the aroma, though would call it a peach lead with mango close behind. Tastes more natural, unlike the 7UP like Tangerine Wheat tried yesterday. 4.0

Mouthfeel: Light easy drinking, somewhat dry. Light watery body, carbonation gentle and more seen than felt. Sweet overall, peach and mango the entire journey, no wheat flavors noted. 3.75

Overall: This is for peach and mango fans. Not sure how they get the flavors in it, but it’s enjoyable and deluvers as advertised. Looking forward to trying their other styles. 3.75

Looking forward to seeing how the ALDI lagers, IPAs and stouts turn out. Until then, have a good week and see you next weekend for a regular edition of New Beer Weekend.

So many places on my want to visit list, Texas being one of them. I suspect that one trip isn’t nearly enough to experience such a large state, maybe one day…

...the TX coast is nice, and the Hill Country is well-worth a visit...then there's TX beer...RA and SA are stalwarts, but there are plenty of other breweries to try...Fredricksburg, TX is a great place (it includes the National Museum of the Pacific War which, if you're a military history fan, is a 'must-see')...it's been over 15 years since we were there, but there were one or two breweries then and lots of great bars and restaurants with excellent food and beer...

Yeah - an easy drive from NW PA, including Mrs. Lizard's quilt store stops - three days on the road but worth it - 80F in New Braunfels vs 30F here in NW PA, plus multiple Chinese restaurants (including a GREAT Sichuan restaurant out on Wurzbach) and variable beer selections at Spec's and HEBs. About crapped when I found Bottle Logic at HEB!

    Dunk from Burdock

Poured 355ml can into a pilsner glass. A big three finger fine tan head on a clear, very dark reddish brown. Excellent head retention. Sticks around to the end. Sheets of fine lacing.

Sweet malt smells. Tastes of roasted malts. Malt forward. The initial sweetness gives way to a very mild, almost imperceptible hop finish.

A fairly light body. Good carbonation. Overall a solid high quality Munich Dunkel.

Good Sunday morning NBS/nbw and thanks to our esteemed colleague @ChicagoJ for hosting his weeks event. Its grey and damp here in the 413 today. the cemetery is all cleaned up for the coming winter, Our kitchen remodel is on track to be near complete for Christmas.
Todays offering is a beautiful and tasty IPA from Hitachino Nest, I really enjoy the nostalgic (for me anyway) flavors, of orange, pine, agaist a solid malt base, The use of mandarin orange and a complimentary "orangy" aroma hop is inspired.
    Cheers all

Poured from a 12 oz can dated DA/25/07, into the test glass.
A - orange blossom honey color, nice clarity, excellent, lasting cap. Fantastic lacing. Steady carbonation feeds to cap, fun to watch.
S - Orange peel, pine, malty biscuit, a bit of gren tea, as well.
T - Caramel malt, citrus thats orangy, excellent piney thread in there.
M - Medium in body, soft on the palate, Excellent tension between on the tongue. Finish is pleasantly dry.
O - A very good offering, the use of the wild oranges, choice of hops, and great malt base add up to a very good experience. I will be seaking out more.

Pipeworks Barrel Aged Hyper Dog. 13.5% milk stout.

Poured from a pint can, the body pours black. Opaque and viscous like motor oil. Brief head and no lacing.

Aroma is a mix of chocolate and vanilla. Taste follows nose with background dairy flavor. No bitterness. Just a light barrel that supplies a bit of bourbon without overt heat. It reminds me of a lightly boozy chocolate milk. No sign of ABV.

Carbonation nearly zero. Mouthfeel medium with a light coating.

An easy stout to sip and enjoy.

From a 16oz can. No date on the can.

In the glass the beer looks quite dark brown in color. There's amber hues when I hold it to the light. There's a 2 finger tan colored head to the beer that has great retention. There's a bit of lacing on the glass.
The aroma is somewhat light. The main aroma I get is a hint of smoke. I also get some malt in the aroma.
Ok, the flavor is quite complex. It has layers of smoke flavor that hit in waves and each wave has a unique twist to it. Up front it's like a light campfire smoke. There's elements of a peat smoke flavor that, while light, has some Scotch notes to it. I also get malt flavors. There's some chocolate notes, which is unusual for the style, but work. There's a rye like flavor/sharpness in the flavor profile.
This beer is quite smooth and full feeling. It has a creamy like texture to it.
This beer's aroma is light, but the whole package makes up for it. Delicious.

I will see my fellow bar patrons down the road. Cheers!

Have a good New Beer Sunday BA. Driving home from Ohio today. We are having lunch with my in laws at cap city diner in Columbus. Snowstorm wasn't that bad. Thanksgiving was a bad day because I had a lupus flare up all day, but rest of the weekend with family was great.

I'm having a Land Grant OH Sure IPA. Aromas and flavors of red grapefruit, orange, lemon, peach, pineapple, passionfruit, mango, melon, red berries, citrus rind, peppercorn, pine, cracker, bread, herbal, floral, grass. Large sized pine, citrus rind, herbal, spicy bitter finish. Medium carb and body. Balanced bready grainy malt and sticky resinous hop mouthfeel. Lingering resin drying with minimal hop astringency. Great Eureka, Comet, Simcoe, and Cashmere hops profile. Very vibrant and dank hops with a clean malt backbone. A proper west coast at 6.4%. 4.1/5

I liked this one, it's "experimental" since it was aged in barrels from bourbons made with heirloom corn so it had a little different of a flavor compared to most other bourbon barrel aged brews I've had before. Should have another couple new brews soon, cheers!

I keep meaning to send a box down Jon and life keeps getting in the way. I actually bought a tonne of stuff for a box, but I’ll need to refresh much of it. I was able to send a couple small ones to test the interception system and both made there way safely to Arizona.

    I hoping early January.
