Any of the Belgian Christmas beers are great candidates, but this is my recent favorite. They just can do no wrong, in my eyes.
I miss the annual Anchor releases. I didn't always love them, but it was a cool tradition. This year, Fat Head's Pimp My Sleigh was a surprisingly good beer. I got that in a six pack of randos I put together. Speaking of rando, does anyone else remember Michelob putting out a holiday beer sampler years ago? It had, I don't know, 12 or 18 beers of various seasonally appropriate styles and included a beer glass. I know Michelob isn't exactly hallowed beer ground, but it was cool nonetheless.
Easily, it was always Anchor Our Special Ale, Merry X-mas & Happy New Year. Got turned onto it back in the late 80's. Still have a few bottles of the last national 2022 release as well as a few old 12 pack bottle boxes from 1989, 1990, etc. & maybe a few old 1995-96-97 bottles left filled with my (very) old homebrew mead/melomel/braggot (that's turned into cleaning product but HEY, what a cleaning product!). FUCK Sapporo And FUCK the Chobani yogurt guy too!
One that is pretty easy to find and I can usually find on markdown after Christmas to sit on for next year is St. Bernardus Christmas Ale. Harder to find but worth the effort would be Het Anker Gouden Carolus Cuvee Van De Keizer Imperial Dark - I haven't seen this in a really long time in my neck of the woods.
While the merry bells keep ringing... BTW -- this really is a very nice drinker. Great balance of American hops and very rich malts. An annual favorite.
One of my favorites from Sam Adams too, but I thought it always came out after Christmas? In the SA NFL Playoff Variety Pack.
