Enjoying a 2022 bottle of 3 French Hens. This beer is just so damn good. One of my all time faves from them and just as excellent as the original 2010 batch.

I feel like, for the most part, the holiday beers have aged very well. I love how they have all 12 on tap. If they had an vintage kegs, I really hope they bring them out!

Tonight I'm very much enjoying a Scotch BT from the 2021 barrel box.

I like Scotch (I prefer high rye bourbon), and Scotch barrel beer is usually meh to me. But I've got a few because I wanted other stuff in the box. This beer to me in the past was just ok, but either it's aged just right for my preference or it's a lucky bottle.

I opened a Society Cuvee tonight. I have to say they nailed it. It really does give Key Lime vibes in a Bruery dark base beer, it's sweet and tart and slightly boozy. I think I'm going to grab another one to sit on for a little while. I can see why some might not like it, but I think they nailed the adjuncts and it tastes like I expected.

I like Stave & Spice a lot. The barrel character is great. Lots of molasses. Other adjuncts less bold. Good balance overall. Nice creamy body though a touch of oiliness I don't love. Will buy more.

I agree! This one really surprised me, I'm not usually a fan of ginger spiced beer but this one was quite tasty.

My turn to weigh in on Society Cuvee:

This was really interesting to try. I didn't dislike... But I'm not buying more.

The lime is bold. If this were real pie I'd be going back for more. But I don't really want that in my beer.

I did really like Last Slice a few years ago though. So I'm not sure if the difference was having a lighter base vs stout? Or maybe it had less pucker than the Cuvee?

I'm just curious, I don't want to bother Bruery customer service if this is normal. I placed an order 10 days ago and it hasn't been fulfilled yet. My last 4-5 orders have all shipped with in 3-5 days. I know it's the holidays and they had a big sale so I'm just curious if this normal this time of the year.

It can vary a lot like you said. Clearing backlog when lots of orders come at once.

Sometimes though it can be one item in your order that's holding everything up. Like if there is a packaging delay on a new beer.

Thanks! I really didn't want to bother them. I'll give it more time, in the meantime I've got plenty of Bruery beer to drink.

I've got a bottle in the fridge. I love maple forward stouts I may crack it open this weekend.

I spoke with the Bruery folks today and they let me know that a bottling delay is holding up the December beers and those marked “temporarily unavailable” in our virtual cellars. They anticipate this being resolved by the end of the month.

That answers my concerns, as my last order has 4 of the last of releases included.

4 Calling Birds (2023) - this has improved for me. It doesn't come off as dry as the past couple years. And the yeastiness has subdued a bit. Better overall balance. Could also just be bottle variation of course. In any case, enjoying very much indeed!

2025 PB & Thursday is excellent. I'm reminded why this became my favorite Bruery Stout back in 2016. This batch is very well balanced, plenty of peanut butter and a nice creamy mouthfeel. I'm glad I picked up 2 bottles.

Catching up on my backlog of reviews:

Midnight Autumn Maple - I miss rock solid non-ba Belgian styles like this, and this is a pretty good seasonal take on that sort of thing, but the price tag is a bit steep for what it is (and having it be included in societies is also a bit weird, as are most of the non-ba stuff this year). Still, I quite enjoyed this.

Stave & Spice - Heavy on the ginger and spice, but that works to offset the sticky sweet, thicc Bayonet base. As it warms, a nice brown sugar note emerges along with rich caramel, spicy rye, and oak. A nice holiday feel too. One of the better offerings with tons of ingredients, and while I'm not a huge bayonet fan, this all comes together well.

Society Cuvée - Please, for the love of God, stop putting overwhelming sour fruit into the non-sour society packages. I like sours just fine, and this one isn't quite full-on sour, but still, it's jarring to taste such an overpowering tart lime character in an otherwise interesting blend of barrel aged stouts/wheatwhines. Great nose I guess (and it does hit Key Lime pie target), but the balance is way off in the taste. Not a fan.

I feel like in the past, bottling delays have related to a single beer... They must have a broken piece of equipment or something affecting everything.
