Hey everyone, traveling to the Denver area (Arvada) for thanksgiving and looking for some good beer options. In the past, I gone to Cerebral a few times, but looking to try some other spots. I’m more of a fan of hazys or some good stouts.

Additionally, looking for some good places to pick up Bourbon County on Black Friday near the Arvada area.

    Thanks in advance!

Google Colorado Beer Geek. This website has a great interactive map of all the breweries in Colorado. You can check out the various breweries in Arvada and see what they have on tap. My recommendations would be (and not really centered around hazys or stouts) would be:
    Resolute
    Luki
    Odyssey
    4 Noses (good hazys)

Depending on where you are at in Arvada, some other close by one's I would recommend are:
New Terrain in Golden (this will hit your hazy preference).
    Cannonball Creek also in Golden

As a side note, Cerebral opened a new tap room in the Highlands neighborhood of Denver, so that would be a lot closer to you than the original location in East Denver if you want to revisit them.

I haven't been in a few years, but New Image is in Arvada and at least used to make excellent beers, including really great IPAs and solid stouts & barleywines. It looks like their Old Towne location is small and has a small tap list. Their Wheat Ridge location (which I've never been to) looks bigger and has a substantial tap list (including at the moment 11 IPAs, DIPAs, TIPAs, etc.).

New Terrain has an fun space (at least when its warm out) and I always try to hit it up when I'm out that way (which is not as often as I'd like). Golden is a fun little downtown to visit.

Have fun and report back where you wind up going!

Cannonball Creek is on the short list of best breweries in the state. I'd prioritize heading there if you can.

I may be in Denver mid-January for work. What would be the some recommendations of must visit breweries in the area? I doubt I'll be able to leave Denver. Might make it to Boulder.

Comrade (WCIPAS), Bierstadt (German lagers), Cerberal (hazy beers, lagers, stouts), Cohesion (Czech lagers), Hogshead (probably the best British cask beer in the country), Ratio (known for their carrot saison), Our Mutual Friend, River North (high ABV, barrel-aged beer, Westbound & Down taproom (WCIPAs). That should give you a good start.

It'll depend slightly on what part of Denver you're staying in.
If you're near downtown, I'd see about heading up about 1/2 mile to the area called River North (RiNo). That area has Bierstadt, Odell, Ratio, Our Mutual Friend, Finn's Manor, Great Divide, and more. You can just wander and let Google Maps tell you where to go. That's probably the easiest overall option.
If you're further east or west, you can usually find 2-3 gems in most larger neighborhoods. On the eastern side you'd have Comrade, Bull and Bush, Cerebral, Station 26, Vine St, and Cohesion. On the western side you'd mostly have Hogshead, although there are some good bars/restaurants over there.

This is a pretty good list. I'd also add Knotted Rooted (Circular Lounge on Colfax) if you're looking for hazy IPAs. Surprisingly good deal if you go during happy hour.

I'm going to be staying in Broomfield when I come to CO. It looks equal distant to Denver and Boulder so I may get to Boulder as well one day.

What are the must-hit spots there?

Outside of breweries, any beer bar recs in Denver or Boulder? Anything cool in Broomfield?

In the Broomfield area I would recommend 4 Noses and Westbound and Down.

As the previous poster said, you should definitely check out 4 Noses in Broomfield. I’d also recommend Prost in Northglenn if you like German lagers. The brewery itself is impressive too. It’s huge. I like Wonderland Brewery too. It has a mini golf course, tons of arcade games, and tasty beer and food.

You have a lot to choose from in Boulder. My favorites are Upslope, Avery, Wild Provisions, and Mountain Sun. They should all have their taplists online. I think you’d be happy with any of them.

Someone else might have a better idea about beer bars. I mostly go to breweries in those areas

Not too far away is Romero's K-9 Club, a great beer bar. If you're going into Boulder, Backcountry Pizza & Tap House has a great list. Not a beer bar, but The Dark Horse Bar is a cool bar that's been around for 50 years and closing sometime in March. Good burgers and wings

In Broomfield, The Colorado Keg House also has a good selection of local beers.

Maybe not totally on point for this discussion, but I stopped into Avery the other week. Maybe a bit old school of me, but they had original recipe Maharaja on tap. It might not have tasted exactly like I remembered it (it was one of my favorite beers 10+ years ago) but it was still pretty darn great!

(It's also worth noting that Avery is a good 15+ minutes north of downtown Boulder....)

In general, it feels like Avery is getting back to their roots. At least as much as they can under the current business model. They've been bringing back quite a few old school classic recipe beers lately and they're even planning to roll out some new gold foil bottles this year. The recent new items they've rolled out have been good, too. I've been scared to try one lately (the last one I had was rough) but now I just need them to fix the Reverend.

Well, this thread exists , so Ill drop a post here. Heading to Colorado next week. We will be in Estes Park for a few days and then a few days in Denver. Staying at the Staybridge Suites on corner of 13th and Tremont Place.

Family is with me, on our School vacation week, so cant do a lot of ONLY brewery hopping. But should be able to hit a few places and have a checked bag so can fly back a bottle or three.
Im not into hops, primarily like lagers and imperial stouts and barleywines. no sours either please.

Havent been to Denver in about 10 years , so Im sure a lot has changed. thinking River North could be a good stop for me. Bonus points for spots with decent food for daughters and wife, extra bonus if they can serve a cocktail too. Decent quick hit bottle shop can help too

Any protips from you folks in CO? @Domingo @beergoot

    Thanks in advance!!

In Estes Park, Rock Cut Brewing is pretty notch. I haven't been up there in a minute, but their beer used to be some of the best around. Estes Park Brewing is across the street. They recently changed hands, so I have no idea what's going on with them at the moment. The place used to be kind of a dump, but the beers were fine. Their beer styles all used to be straight out of the 1990's, for better or worse. The barleywine was full-on great, though. It's worth popping in and grabbing some bottles to go.

In Denver, River North is the area you'll want to hit up. It's a pretty cheap Uber/Lyft from the main part of downtown. Bierstadt, Odell, Our Mutual Friend, River North, and Finn's Manor are all worthwhile stops. They're all within a few blocks of one another, too. Beyond those spots, the places worth traveling to individually would be Comrade and Bull & Bush (east Denver), Cannonball Creek (Golden), Hogshead (Highlands, west Denver), and Bruz (NW Denver). Danico is a good stop near the airport, too.

I'm only going to list stuff close to your hotel.

If you only get a single window you can hit these three up in two hours time

    Lagers: Bierstadt

    Stouts/Barleywines: River North Brewery

Good selection of both: Our Mutual Friend, Odell

Turn family lunch/dinner into brewery trip: Oskar Blues Grill & Brew, Blue Pan Pizza Congress Park order it To-Go and eat down the street at Cerebral Brewing, Dairy Block (Food Hall that has Westbound and Down Brewing for you as well as cocktail bar and lots of food choices).

    Bottle Shop: Argonaut Liquor

Since you're in the downtown area, I'd also suggest Finn's Manor for cocktails and a good beer list. Unfortunately, it's 21+ only
