Oliver's used to name a lot of beers after doom metal albums. Not too sure how many were actual collaborations with bands and how many were tributes, but it put me onto new albums. Barrel-aged Speed of Darkness was excellent.
Raging Bitch and Arrogant Bastard… which incidentally were the nicknames of former presidential candidates back in 2016. I kid, I kid…
Narwhal Old Rasputin Lone Star Enjoy By Old Peculier ... plenty of others. It's funny that I never think of this topic b/c the name rarely means anything in terms of the quality of the beer. FWIW I often tend to love the names of beers I love (Rochefort, Bitburger, Konig) but those names aren't intrinsically great names like Arrogant Bastard, a truly great name on its own IMO.
Here's a good one: Angels with Filthy Souls from Bissell Bros https://bissellbrothers.com/beer/angels-with-filthy-souls-2024/ Name taken from a (not real) gangster movie watched by Kevin in Home Alone.
Ball Snatching Karen IPA from Mountain Hops Brewhouse. Talking aboot baseball so get your mind out of the gutter.
Smells Like a Safety Meeting by Dark Horse. In my youth, and not sure it is made anymore, I liked Olde Frothingslosh
Lunch from Maine Beer Company (taken in the context of the below, from their website): "Allied Whale, the marine mammal lab at College of the Atlantic, is leading the way in field research. Home to the world’s largest library of photo-identified whales, scientists use this research to follow them by comparing patterns, fin shapes, and identifying marks. Lunch is a fin whale that was first spotted by their team along the Maine coast in 1982. She has what looks like a bite taken out of her fin."
"Foggy Geezer" - Warpigs "Moose Drool" - Big Sky "Gumballhead" - 3 Floyds "God Damn Pigeon Porter" - Spiteful
No specific name that I like but Evil Twin has some real long and interesting names. There are other breweries with interesting names for their beers also. I really like Reindeer Tears from Heathen Brewing here in Vancouver, WA. Have had it every year that they brew it since 2014. It's a barleywine and I think it is great. Runs between 10 & 14 ABV.
