    Did I miss something?

I've seen some for sales in FB posts but no trade offers.

    The silence is deafening...lol.

Seriously though, I just think everyone's had it. It's not like wine where one vintage can really stand out and be worth pursuing over another. Here the entire point is to make it taste as close to its best self as possible, which is to say if you've had it once then you've had it a million times. It's not one of those beers anyone is drinking volume of, it was almost always for the tick. Now people probably avoid it based on the high barrier to entry that was set in the past. Really, the only noteworthy years in rare beer like this are the bad ones, if there ever are any. New brands/releases were the way to create new hype in the past, and those aren't even making any waves anymore, from any brewery.

I don't disagree with anything you're saying, but isn't this true for a number of different beers? I'm not an ardent trader so I'm probably not the best person to respond to the OP, but then again... the beer is highly regarded (and rated), people are still buying/selling it on FB, so presumably there's still demand with a very limited supply. Typically, that equates to considerable interest among the trading community

I'm just wondering if there might be some other factor at play that would explain the lack of interest among the trading community.

Yes, I think it's true for all beer, we're just not seeing anything move the way it used to. I'm not seeing that much buying/trading on FB either, relative to the heyday. The only things generating a fraction of the interest from that time are slight variations on past whales.

Agreed. I guess I'll give it a go and see what happens. Maybe I won't need to give up as much to get it lol

KBBS is $100 retail. To obtain one it’s membership or lottery only. Then if you win you have to be in Decorah, Iowa 1 day of the year to pick up. No proxies this year. So it’s definitely still rare or at least difficult to obtain.

The posts on FB aren’t all selling. But I’d say 50%+ sales, 25% bourbon included in the trade offer, 25% straight beer-for-beer.

    Sabtos makes valid points.
I ticked KBBS once. I have no desire to try it again. Beer doesn’t generally age well, and kbbs is a coffee stout.

Any other issues with beer or economy I think everyone already knows. I don’t think this issue is specific to kbbs.

They often have it available at the brewpub during the year as well, though you have to consume it on premise. That's how I was able to get the tick.

I don't want to say anything bad about Decorah, but IMHO it isn't a place anyone would want to visit were it not for TG ( though I think there's also some college there). That's why I (and I suspect many others) decided to spring for a bottle. I'm pretty certain I won't be visiting Decorah again in this lifetime.

Yes Luther college is a small Lutheran college in town.
Pulpit Rock is another brewery in town, but they really only excel in pastry stouts.

I visited once and also probably won’t return.
In 2022 a friend and I won both the kbbs and db kbbs lotteries. Then my friend ended up arranging all the travel details.
So we each were able to buy the 2 bottles, plus the brewery had 2018-2022 kbbs and db kbbs on draft.
Ended up being a fun experience but don’t need to repeat.

Yep. Decorah is fun when you're drunk and surrounded by other pastry stout fans. When that 24 hours is over, you best r-u-n-n-o-f-t
