Good call, @Amendm. It has been a minute since I’ve had a Dos Equis and agree it’s a superior style. But finding it on tap isn’t as common as it once was here in STL, ever since AB gained control of Corona brands. Count on 2 or 3 tap handles in a cantina to be split between Corona and Modelo offerings, and any more to be given to Bud Light, Mich Ultra, Busch Light.

I’m old enough to remember Tres Equis from my beer-can collecting days in the 1970s. Seems as if that might be the stuff of legends anymore.

Thanks @Jaycase, usually we have the same painting up but this year we rotated for winter. I like it as well.

PS…couldn’t agree more @keilerdunkel, I think Great Lakes is the Goldilocks zone of spiced beers.

Correction, this beer was added by @zotzot as an American Lager named Evergreen by Zero Gravity before I mistakenly added it under the name Green State Evergreen.

I asked zotzot what style he thought was best, we agreed that Festbier was best.
Since then it has been changed to European Strong Lager??!!

It has found a home. Cheers.

I like to have a special beer to go with Sunday dinner, and this one didn't disappoint. Boulevard Rum Barrel-Aged Pecan Pie Imperial Brown Ale was the star of the show. At a knee-buckling 13.5% abv I took 3 hours to finish it so an extended enjoyment. If anyone has one of these, cool room temp is the way to drink it to get any nut flavor at the end. Pecan pies are very sweet, and so is this beer, although not sickenly sweet.

    Wintertime Spice - Ardennes

Despite the label comments, the spice is far from subtle.

Great Lakes Christmas Ale - I haven't had this one for a number of years but I can't recall anything about it. Maybe the reason is that it's not an exciting beer, which is my conclusion after drinking this one today. Oh, it's a very good beer, but nothing takes it over the top. Maybe it's like with other modestly spiced beers where I don't get much of the spices, thus excitement is there but I just don't get it.

I haven't seen that beer in at least a decade, since it was in bomber bottles. Just looked up my review, it was from way back in 2010.

I was sent it last year around this time (?) in the IS / BW BIF. It could definitely have some age on it. It was still good. Cheers!!

I'm guessing Port Brewing just stopped shipping it to the Philly area? Or maybe just haven't looked in the right places. Haven't seen Old Viscosity either.

Am at Belmont Station in pdx, where they currently have the De Ranke Pere Noel, Delirium Noel, Corsendonk Xmas ale and the Het Anker Gouden Carolus Noel on tap
Starting with the De Ranke, which always hit the spot for me.

Have now moved on to the Delirium Noel. After the De Ranke, this really tastes rich and malty, with cherry and Belgian spices. This year's version is quite delicious.

Followed this with a glass of Corsendonk. Its pretty good, but I was expecting better based on past experiences. I thought I would prefer it to the Delirium Noel, but that's not even close to being the case.

Finishing with the Het Anket, which is by far the best beer I'm having today. Lot's of spice and very complex, with even some noticeable mandarin orange. Absolutely delicious.

Had my first of the year on Sunday night, tasty as it always is. Did they change the image slightly, it looked “different” or maybe the shading of color?

Fat Orange Cat Winter Warmer. Really enjoyed it! Nutmeg, vanilla, cherries — nicely balanced holiday brew that didn’t club me over the head with spice or syrupy flavor.
