It's not a bad idea to give your liver a break. Plus, dry January can be great for self-control. I observe "dry Mondays" all year long. 52 abstinses days.
No Monday drinking unless it is holiday, birthday or vacation.
if the holiday falls on Monday, you make up on Tuesday.

Have been pretty much off beer since mid October due to bilateral knee replacement. I abstain during lent, so mid January to mid February will be my last chance until April. Can't miss Nugget Nectar time!!!

...I may do what I call a 'damp January'...last year was a week of no alcohol...this year, I may make it one or two days a weeks with no alcohol (already have had two days the month like that)...so, basically a week total of abstinence for the month, but certainly not a full month...gotta keep the liver in shape for Lent and doppelbock season :innocent:...

I've only had beer 2 days in the last 2 weeks, and have decided to go until at least 2026 (only another week from here) before my next one. And, that'll only be if I feel like having one, not having one just to have one.

I answered maybe. For the last 15 years it's been two 16 oz 8%ers a day without fail. Since the fall I've been abstaining a few days a week or more -- especially if I'm home doing nothing special. When I do drink at home - I'm consuming more ~5% beers and home-brews than in the past. When we go out I feel like I'm more likely to binge a bit which I need to address. I really miss the beers but I also love feeling of reduced consumption. :beers:

I've cut down on my beer consumption in general, down to 2 or 3 a week, because I wanted to lose some weight. That, and a careful avoidance of the usual snacks, has worked quite well--not that I wanted to cut the beer! Going completely dry for just one month, and then going back to drinking a lot, seems counter-productive.

It's game on for me, per my girlfriend's request. I am not looking forward to it, but let's just say that I am getting my steps in before the end of the year.

I'm going to try it again. Had a full physical with blood work mid December and everything is fine. But I'm being evaluated in January for knee replacements and I think it would help my recovery if I can lose some weight.

I plan to take a few weeks off from early February until early March, when I have my annual physical. I'll want/need to drop a few pounds but get back in action for St. Pat's Day.
