Neither can I. And New York borders on Vermont.

What are you hand washing them with, Brillo pads and Comet?
I have beer glasses older than my 30yr old marriage that look better.
As for the haze, did you try a soak in beer line cleaner? That shit removes almost everything.

Replace steps 1-5 with a good automatic dishwasher cycle (if you have a dishwasher).

We do have a dishwasher, but the shape and size of most of my glasses makes them wobbly in the dishwasher, and I don't want to risk breakage. Says the guy who broke his favorite glass handwashing it. :flushed: Luckily had a spare.

I can see why that's your favorite glass. Nice!

Thanks! It's a Simon Pearce Essex Tulip. Real sturdy, until you ding it against a stone counter, and holds a stovepipe (to the rim). I've got their Stout Glass too.

But drinking glasses (as well as other types of "kitchen glass") are not typically accepted by recyclers.

The recycling facilities here do not accept that kind of glass. I dunno why.

I've read that a number of glass recycling plants have closed and that 2/3 of the glass we put out on the curb for recycling ends up in the landfill either due to being unsuitable to recycle, or due to recycling costs exceeding landfill costs.

Definitely replenish your glassware, you probably have way too much anyway.

Y’all put far too much effort into getting your beer glasses cleaned.
I learned a lot sitting at the bar and watching them “wash” the glasses.
One sink to clean, one to rinse and the last to sanitize.
StarSan is easily available and in a spray bottle goes a long way.
I generally rinse any remaining beer out, spray the StarSan in to cover the surface inside and put it on a bar mat or towel to dry. Takes almost 30 seconds.
There are exceptions of course, when my bottle of StarSan is on a different level of the house and I just rinse it out after use, re-rinse it before use and it’s never quite as clean but good enough for the moment.
Rinsing before it solidifies is paramount.
    Cheers all!

    Asked and answered.
I learned something new today too and I wasn’t even looking.

Try concentrated acetic acid or 30% (you can find in hardware store) to remove the haze. Wear gloves and eye protection. Add the acid slowly to the glass and gently rotate to dissolve the buildup. Do not breathe the vapors. Dump the used acid on the ground not down the drain. I advise doing this procedure outside.

They're not on Amazon. The Simon Pearce site has the Essex Tulip right now, and one retailer has the Stout Glass. Both come and go from their lineup, but the Stout glass is harder to find. I have seen/bought them on Ebay occasionally.

@Blogjackets sent me a very nice little snifter from Jackie O's brewing. It has a short, fat stem and a slightly smaller base than some others. A real solid glass.
